REPORT FROM
QUEEN'S PARK
BY. MURRAY GAUNT
M.P.P. HURON - BRUCE
A Government bill to force the
resumption of regular classes in
York County received approval in
the second reading and third read-
ing stages this week and will
become law immediately.
The Bill establishes a three
member arbitration board to break
the deadlock between the teachers
and the Board of. Education in York
County'.
Education Minister Thomas
Wells reiterated his willingness to
abandon the Bill at any time he is
advised the teachers and trustees
have agreed to submit to voluntary
binding arbitration or reach a
negotiated settlement.

With a promised increase in
milk prices in April to the farmer,
it will be interesting in the next
few months to watch the price of
dairy foods in stores.
It must be understood that for
cheese, for example, the cheese
sold the 1st of April was made
with Milk bought from the farmer
on or before the first of March',
as it sits a month to cure.
Thus the milk bought in April,
will not go on-the market until
on in May - or later if they have
stock ahead.
Already some cheese prices are
up by 80 a lb. in March and we
wonder who is getting the profit!
Certainly not the farmer for his
increase, supposed to come in
April, will little more than make.
up for his present increased input
costs - feed, equipment etc. so
that he is once again not losing
money.
And - the farmers, continue to
go out of the dairy business at an
alarming rate.
Where does it all end?
