Wraith assistant leader in charge. The meeting was' opened by singing the hymn, Weft be the tie that binds. Mrs. N.J. McKenzie introdu Mrs . Allan Johnson ' who gave splendid talk and quiz on the study book for this year on ••ions. . •'` The scripture was read by E. McCullough from the 12th chapter of Romans. Mrs. Al IrWin gave ,a reading, "Charity Home"„ followed by prayer Nt N.J. McKenzie gave a read "The road to Love" and closed devotional with a hymn, Weill heard the Joyful sound. Mrs. Jim Wraith took charge the business by reading a poem; The roll call vos the paying of fees. Mrs, Walter Dexter gave reading On Community friend and reported on the visiting: Al Irwin •gave aJeading on Ste ardship and recruiting. A spec collection was taken, for comm unity friendship. Mrs . Mrs. Clifford Laidlaw, convener of ChriStian and Missionary Educ- ation, was in charge of the •wor!- stlip service. She gave the ,-.Call to Worship. All sang In •Christ there is no East or West,. Mrs. Laidlaw read the Scripture from Matthew. A Play "The Beginning of World Missions" was acted by Mrs. Laid- law , Mrs. E. Sleightholm and Mrs. R. Chapman. Mrs. Laidlaw told the story of the Life of Will- iam Carey and closed this portion of the meeting with prayer. , MTS. Milian Moore, president, presided for the business. The World bay of Prayer will be held 'in the Presbyterian Church March 1st at 2:30 p.m. The Unit- ed"Church Women's Presbyterial will be held at Mitchell March 6th. Miss Audrey McKim will be guest speaker. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Albert Coultes. The Roll Call was answe- red by 13 with a poem or quotation with word "Love" . The offering was dedicated by' Mrs. • Milian Moore A discussion on MissiOns was continued from the January meet- ing. The Meeting was closed with the Lords Prayer . The Travelling Basket was then brought in and Made its ounds Lucknow 'Unit Unit 5 of Lucknow Un.ited Church Women met at the home • of Mrs. Kenneth Cameron, Tuesday evening, February 5th. Mrs. Charles Anderson, Presid- ent , welcomed the members and read advice. for officers and "A Thought. for U. C. W. 'Members". The roll tall was answered by the paying of fees. The March meeting will be held in the church with the Presbyter .- ian Evening Auxiliary as guests. ' The suggested date for the Easter Thank-Offering is April 16. The Presbyterial will be in Southamp- ton ,, Monday , March 11th.. The General meeting is February 19th with Christian Education Comm- ittee in charge 'of programme. Mrs. C. Anderson thanked the • hostess for her hoMe and those taking part on the programme. • Mrs: Jack Treleaven reported on the "Home Makers" work and ' the need for helpers in this area. Mrs. Ken Cameron gave comm- ents. from the Study. Book " "Mission Impossible Unless" and explained the prOgramme foLthe year, which consists of 5 sessions. A hymn was repeated in unison.. Mrs. Stuart Reavie read the ScriP- ture and offered a prayer. Mrt. C. ) Luck now Unit 2 Unit 2 of LuCknow United Church Women held their Febru-. ary 5 meeting in the chUrch parlor. Mrs. Vernon Hunter open- ed the meeting with the reading of a poem. A 'hymn was sung and Mrs. Hunter led in prayer: The roll call was answered by payment of fees. Fifteen ladies were pre- sent. As a means of making extra money Unit 2 decided .to have a hobby sale in June,. As a special project, envelopes are to be siv- en to all members for a special offering. These are to be handed in at the September meeting. Unit 2 is in charge of duties at, the General Meeting February 19. The report on Stewardship was given by Mrs. Eldon Ritchie. Citizenship report was given by Mrs. Garfield MacDonald. Mrs. Eldon Henderson reported on Friendship and Visiting. ' Mrs. E. Henderson took charge of the devotional program. After the opening Hymn, Mrs.. Henders- on read a poem- "The. Saviour can solve every problem". Mrs. Gordon Ritchie read the scripture and Mrs. D. Cardis led in prayer. Mrs. Harvey Houston followed with a piano instrumental. Mrs. Allan Johnson then explain- ed the new study book' "I\tission Inrpossible - Unless" which is very different from the former study booki. She gave .a very inforrhative talk and explain- ed how we will determine the mission policy of our dennmin- ation. Miss Lorna Campbell then gave a reading. Mrs. Henderson closed the meeting with prayer. Lunch was served by Mrs. G. Ritchie , Mrs. E. Henderson and Mrs. D. Cardis. Anderson read a quote of Martin Luther King. . Mrs. Gordon Morrison gave' an interesting reading on Missionary work and,presented,a questionaire entitled "Mission Means". • Mrs. Robert Campbell read a letter of thanks from the "Kape Kroker ,Kapers", telling us of, their activities in 1973. Unit Leader , Mrs. Leonard Ritchie , welcomed everyone and • opened with a poem "Life's Lantern". Seventeen ladies answ- ered the roll, call with•payment of fees. Mrs. Roy Havens and Mrs. Oliver Glenn are the,Sopial Funct- ions conveners. R. Many projects for raising money were discussed but, members voted in favour Of free-will giving, except for the bake'sale in June and the penny a pound project. In December a special collection will be taken towards sending a b6y or girl from our Church to Toc• Alpha at Five Oaks. Mrs. Ritchie thanked ,the hostess and also Mrs. Doug McEwan for typing the programmes. Mrs. Allan Johnson took charge of the programme. and opened with a prayer. Hymn 16 was sung. Mrs. Brock Cleland,read the• scripture. Mrs. CO Crawford gave a reading followed by prayer. Mrs. Johnston gave a brief expla- nation of the Mission Packet entitled "Missions Today" and then led 141 discussion on the meaning,of Mission. Mrs. Herb Barger favoured with an accord - ian number. Miss Mary McIntyre showed slides of her trip, to South Africa. Mrs. Cliff Crawford expressed thanks to •Mary and the meeting, was plosed with prayer. Lucknow Unit 3 Unit 3 of Lucknow United Church Women met in the North Sunday School room of the church on Tuesday, February 5th at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Glen Walden welcomed the ladies and read two poems "He giveth His love". and "The Garden of an Organization". This was followed by a hymn and the Lord's prayer. Arrangements were made for the March meeting. The roll call was answered by 18' members with a verse about Love. Mrs. Wilfred Drennan gave a report on Christian and Missionary and Miss Ada Webster - on Stewardship. ., . Miss Ada Webster took charge of the program,' opening with a New Year's Wish. Three verses-of "Come let' us sing ofa ,wonderful love' was followed by a prayer. The scripture taken from 1st John 'and the Meditation, Family Love, was taken by Mrs. Drennan. ,A reading "The Golden Rule" by Presbyterian'WMS lr The February meeting of the . afternoon,group of the LucknoW Presbyterian. W. M, S. society was held at the home of Mrs. Noble Johnston, with Mrs. Johnston presiding. The meeting opened with a poem and a short prayer followed by hymn 544 and prayer by Mrs. Philip Stewart:. Mrs. Glenn Noble gave the topic on-Salvation in a very interesting manner . Mrs. Janies Little gave the report of.the Presbyterial meeting in Wingham followed by Hyrnn 552, Mrs. Maud Sherwood gave the Bible Study from Acts 9 and Mrs. Johnston gave the dedicatory . prayer. The roll call was respond- ed to by 27 members and 1 visitor with• a. verse from Phillipians. • A few items of business ; were discussed. MisS Sadie John- ston gave the review of the Glad Tidings after which hymn 766 was • sung and Mrs. Wm. Porteous closed' the meeting ,with prayer. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess and her helpers.
