County Federation of Agriculture

the person of Les Doll, left , of
R. R. 1, Southamptan. Mr. Doll
and his family' are operating a '140
acre beef farm in Saugeen Town-
ship.
. The membership was sold by
.Arnold Misch, right,' a well/known
Arran Township farmer. Mr. •
Misch has been a very active and
enthusiastic member of the Bruce
County Federation of Agriculture.
The Bruce County Federation
has set our target of membership
'at 1500 by the end of 1974,
•
to hold this for a special project.
Their activities included a mission
study , visiting, packing bales,
providing equipment and"staff for
the nursery, serving lunch for
bereaved families': and arranging
flowers, for Sunday worship.
The Sunday School reported an
average attendance of 71 for 40
Sundays. They raised $155.00 for
the Mission- and Serv!ce Fund and
'gave $100.00 to the Building.
Fund as well as meeting their
usual obligations.
Twenty-five girls in the C.G.I./
T. , 'representing p different den-
ominations had a very busy year
in 1973. . They raised more than
$1000.00. More than halrof this
went to their foster child in Peru
and Other charitable organizations.
They had a study , went on a trip,
arranged for movies for the com-
munity , presented a 'programme
on Singtime, and a Christmas
Vesper Service , among their
many activities. •
" Other reports were received
from the Nursery Roll, Messengers,
Ybuth Group, Memorial Gift
Committee , and the Choir.

86th Birthday
James Culbert of Lucknow was
the guest 'at an 86th birthday party
in his honour'held Saturday at the
home of his daughter and son-in- -
law Gordon and Shirley Brooks of
Lucknow. The actual date of the
birthday was Wednesday, January
23. *

occasion were: Mr'. and Mrs. Gord-

Mr, and Mrs. Roy Teeft (Jean) of
Dunnville., Mary Jane Teeft of

Rock ; George McLean, John Dodds
and Jack Scott. •Gordon, Scott and
Ambrose Gamble stayed on duty
at the Municipal building. The
firemen appreciate the help of
the Huron Township workmen in,
enabling the firemen to make a
fast take-off,

The congregation approved a
budget of $17,052,45 for 1974.
The Nominating Committee's
Report was inComplete, but ROn •
Alton, Leonard Ritchie and Ada-
Webster were nominated for Ses- •
sion and Charles Webster and' H.
D. Thompson,were nominated for
the Cominittee of Stewards. :The
Committee was directed, to seek
other nominations to fill two vac-'
ancies on. the Session and one' •
vacancy on the Stewards and to
'report baCk to the Official Board.
A suggestion for the, agenda
Committee for' General Council
expressed concern about the qual-
ity of television presentations and
,the impact 'on young people.
Other individual.suggeStions were
directed to Mr. Nicholls before
February 3 for forwarding to the
agenda Committee.
Other matters referred to the
Official Board for action, included
a review of fire insurance cover-
age , a Live/Lave Project, and
plans for the celebration of the
50th 'anniversary of the United
Church of Canada whiCh occurs in
1975.'
The Meeting closed with the

Sincere sympathy is extended
to Mrs. Wm. Wilken and family
in the sudden passing of William
Wilken. The funeral Service
was held. at 2 o'clock from Mc-
Lennan Funeral Home in
Kincardine.
Mr. and Mrs. George Messeng-
er and family are holidaying in
St. Petersburg, Florida. They are
meeting Barbara's parents Mr.
and Mrs. Wm .4 Mapes.
Amberley Lodge held a euchre
on' Tuesday night with high prizes
to Mrs. Leonard Reid and Bill
Pace, lucky prize to Jim Tout.

of St. Thomas spent the week end
with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Humph-
rey.
Gertrude' Lee Walden spent the
week end with Mr. and Mrs. Mur-
ray Walden and family.
Reid's Corners Institute met' on
Wednesday, January 23rd at 2
o'clock. Mrs. John Elliott sang a
solo. Mrs. Bob Courtney; Mrs.
George Messenger and Mrs: Lynn
Lowry gave a skit, "Junipter Junc-
tion".
Mrs. John 'Ferguson, Mrs. Len
Reid, Mrs. Gary Courtney and
Mrs. Wm. Pace attended "Sum-
mary Day" ; 'Baked in a• Pie" on
Wednesday, January 16th in Tees-
water. .
Mr. and Mrs.' Alex Nesbitt of
Toronto 'visited with Mr. and Mrs.
•Norval Neshitt.
Miss Wendy Courtney spent the
week end with Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Courtney. •

Visited Mrs. Jenny Brotchie, a
patient in Kincardine ,Hospital.

The Building Fund Loan of
Lucknow United Church 'has been
reduced to $500.00. This was the
most gratifying report presented
at the Annual Meeting of Lucknow
United Church. A new manse and.
Christ4an Education Wing was
built. onto the church several years
ago. .
The meeting was held on Sun-
day , January 27 following a pot-
luck lunch following morning wor-
ship. About 50 people were pres-
ent to review the reports of 1973
and to make plans for 1974.
The congregation had a success-
ful financial year. Giyings to
the general fund through regular
contributions and anniversary
gifts swelled to more than
$1300.00 above the givings of
1972. The goal of the Mission • •
and Service Fund , which had been
set for $4900.00, was exceeded
by $167.00.
The United Church* Women rais-
ed• about $3700.00 through the
five units and through• special
projects. They received a bequest
from the Miss Elizabeth Murdie
Estate/of $1535.00. They plan•
