Interim Moderator , chaired the
anneal meeting of the Langside
Presbyterian Church on Saturday,
January 26th with Mrs. George
Young acting as secretary. Sev-
enteen members were in attend-•
ance, The church has a mem -
bership, of forty-six with six
joining in 1973 by Profession of
Faith.
Arnold Scott, Philip Steer
and Mrs. 'George Young were eiec •
ted to the Board of Managers.
Robert Orr and Mks. Robert Breg-
man were elected the 1974 audit-
ors. Arnold Scott, Elmer Scott,
Graham ,Moffat were appointed
Trustees of the Church. ,
Donald Saw , Ken Scott'; Rus-
sell Young and Robert Bregman
Junior were elected as ushers.
Anniversary SerVices are to be
held June 30th with suggested'

SCHOOL BOY CURLING
Sandy Pollick, John Huston,
Brian MacKay and Dave MacDon-
ald represented Ripley at the rec-
ent School Boys Curling bonsplel
held in Owen Sound. Their first
and only game resulted 'in an 8-5
losS , as the rink from Flesherton
defeated. the Ripley foursome,
However, 'the'boys did try their
best in the traditional R.D.S.
spirit.
SECOND SEMESTER
Last week, secondary students
were busily writing their first
semester final examinations. Now
at the beginning of the second
semester , it appears that less than
twenty weeks remain before the
summer holidays commence in
June. There are some students
that returned for the second sem-
ester to-gain some.extra subjects
to add to their credit total. Glad

BOWLING
On Friday, January 25 , at three
o'clock, a bus loaded with R.D.S
bowlers and, Mr. Brown left for th
Hanoyer Bowling Lanes. As soon
as we. arrived in Hanover the
teams took to the lanes. At the
end of the three games the
highest score for the girls was
223 by' Donna Gallant and Mark
Stanley for the boys with 20d.
Neat seven o'clock the Ripley
teams ventured to the J D. S
cafeteria for the banquet and pes
entation of uophies. Ripley
didn't do too well as it was a
first time that most of the studen
bow led a .,s we
were back on the
road again and around nine , we
arrived home, with everyone re,
porting a good time.

Contributing to this vast work is
the local congregation in this
area;. It is one of 31,850 such con•
gregations an over 208 different
lands of the world.
Not content with , maintaining
this level but ever pushing ahead
CO greater activity, the Witnesses
assemble from time to time in
large conventions for the purpose
Of receiving advanced training in
their ministry.
A spokesman for the local
congregation in this area said rhat
they have 'received an invitation
to attend the next session in Han-
over February 2 , 3, at the John
Diefenbaker Secondary School..
Laurence Gray, district super-
visor , will act as chairman and
Will co-ordinate all events includ-
ing baptism ceremony'.
The climax of the assembly
will be a public discourse by Mr.
Gray,, "Be Confident of Divine
Victory', on Sunday February 3rd.
Local delegates under the. direc-
firm of W. Grant Gollan, the 'pres-
iding minister, have completed,
their plans-to attend. Car groups
have been arranged to take care
of all those, 'needing transportation
to and from Hanover.
Mr. and Mrs. Golan, along
with all members of their family,
will spend, the coming, week end
at Hanover. They will convene
with, more than 1300 other witness-
es of Jehovah at, the John Deifen-
baker Secondary School.
