Trinity UCW `
The regular, meeting, of Trinity
U.C.W, was held on Thursday,
January 10, at the home of Mrs.
Allan Hackett, with in attend-
ance of 24 ladiei and '1 child.
The meeting was called to order
by the president, Mrs. Charles
Wilkins, who read two appropriate
poems for the New Year. The
roll call was answered by a New •
year's resolution.
Mrs,. Ken Alton gave copies
of our motto for the coming year
which is "As for Meand My'
House We: Will Serve the Lord"
a.nd she also passed out the pro-
grams for 1974.
The topic for the Devotions
was "A Momentous Decision".
Mrs. HarVey Ritchie read the
scripture , which was taken from
Joshua , and the meditation was
given by Mrs. Jim Hunter , follow-
ed, by prayer by Mrs. Ritchie.
Hymn, Guide Me Oh Thou Great
Jehovah, was sung. Mrs. Harvey
Ritchie' read a short article about -
' "Hannah", Mrs, Chester Hack-
ett read about "Martha", Mrs.
Wm. Andrew read about "Lydia"
and Mrs. •Jim Arnold gave one
about "Naorhi". Devotions was
closed with prayer by Mrs. Jim
Hunter.
Mrs. Douglas Cameron sang two
:loVely. solos, "Raindrops Keep
Falling on My Head" and "What-
ever Will . Be, Will Be".
Mrs. Hummel introduced the
Study Book for 1974 "Mission Im-
possible (Unless)" and aLsoread
a letter from a Church in Brazil
asking for Our used Christmas ,
cards. The business part of the
meeting followed. 'Quilts were
distributed to the different groups
to be quilted this winter.
• Mrs. Marvin'Scott moved a ,
vote of thanks to the retiring pres-
ident and executive for their work
in'the past two years. Mrs. Russel
Irvin conveyed thanks from
Dale 'for the U.C. •W.'s partiri •
sending him to Five Oaks during
the Christmas holiday./
Mrs. Douglas Cameron favored
with another solo "May the Good
-Lord Bless and Keep You".
Mrs. Hummel closed the meeting
with a suitable verse , following
which lunch was served by the
committee in charge :
Busy Buddies
Tuesday, January 8 was the
date for the first meeting in the
new year 'for the. Busy Buddies.
The group met at 8.00 p.m. in
the Presbyterian Church, basement.
The meeting opened with Marg
Stanley giving a reading entitled
"If Jesus Came to Visit". ,'Diane
Morrison read an article concern-
ing Negroes. "Do Lord" was
sung in unison. Betty McDonagh
gave a most interesting and un-
usual prayer which involVed each
Member.
Over delicious cake and coffee
these readings were discussed.
Many other items, were brought
up for discussion.
It' was planned to hold a supper
meeting on Tuesday, Feburary
114h at 7.00 p.m. Each mem-
ber will be' contacted with regard
to this.
Several projects were mention-
ed and everyone agreed 'to help
our own community rather, than
outsideis. It is hoped more ideas
will come up at the next meeting.
Presbyterian
The' first meeting of the Luck-
now Presbyterian W. M.S'. for the
'new year was held on January
9th in the Sunday School room
with 20 ladies attending and our
new President presiding.
The meeting opened with,a call
to worship and prayer by the Pres-
ident followed by Hymn 606. The
devotional part of the program was
taken by Mrs. -James Smith.
Mrs. Ena Henderson gave the
topic , which was taken from Rev.
Dr. E. H. Johnstons 'book "'For
times like these" ;which was very
interesting and informative.
Mrs. Robert Reid reviewed the
Glad Tidin Theft' was a few
matters of business distussed and
decisionsrinade. The annual
meeting of the Maitland Presbyter-
ial will 'be held irrSt. Andrew's
church, Wingham January 28th.
Roll call was answered with a
verse, from Ephesians. The
closing hymn 599, closing prayer
by S. Johnston.

For New Year,
The five Units of St. Andrews
United Church Women_ met in the
Church Hall for the first meeting
of the new year. The program
was in charge of the Executiv,e
and was led by Mrs. Gordon
Patterson assisted by .Mrs. Robert
Osborne and• Mrs. Wm. Arnold
with an inspiring address given by
the new president, Mrs. Jas.
Needham.
Members were pleased to know
they had reached their Mission
objective of $1500. A new ob-'
jective of $1525 was for 1974..
General meetings and Unit
meetings will follow the same
plan as in 1973 with the excep-
tion of December when 'Units 1,
2 and 3 will meet together.. It •
was decided to hold a Bazaar
as in'the past and to adopt a
child: The Units chose their new .
Live Love Projects'and got tieir
plans made for the year's pr
grams.

Mrs. Ernest Ackert Jr.
welcomed everyone and opened
the meeting with a poem "Look
at the old year". Hymn 662 was
sung. Mrs. Ackert led in deio-

new about you" following with
prayer.

meeting was opened with the
Lord's Prayer and Members Prayer
repeated in Unison. The'

Epiphany" was answered by seven
members and one visitor.
After closing of the Meeting,.
business Was. conducted with ,the
reading of the minutes of the last
meeting. Secretary and treasurer ;
reports for the year, and also the
flower fund convener report were
given: Correspondence was read
and the years dues were paid.

The congregational annual
meeting of Christ Church Port Al-
bert-will be held on January 21st
at. 2.30 p.m. in the basement of
the church.

formative explanation of the study,
packet. Mrs'. Morrison closed the
meeting in prayer.

exists few recreational or,holiday
opportunities in Ontario. In 1973,.
The March of Dimes' Ability Rind
launched the first Province-wide
Camping program for handicapped
adults. It was the ..first holiday
in years for many attending and it
was your donations that made it .
