MILK LOANS
Seventy dairy farmers' in Bruce
County have applied for .1bans
under the Ontario Industrial Milk
Production Incentive program.
The applications were for , •
$1,030,000. This represents ap-
proximately 10% of the money
loaned in Ontario under this pro-
gram. The only county with
more loans is Huron. .
Applications and information on
this milk loan prograM are avail-
able at our office in Walkerton.
DAIRY HERD IMPROVEMENT
ASSOCIATION
There are openings available
for dairy fainiers to join the Dairy
Herd Improvement Assotiation in
Bruce County, It is apparent ,after
reviewing the 70 loan applications
that there are still a lot of Dairy
cows not paying their way. You
can contact Denis Quish at this
office or one of the D. H. I.A .

SCARCITIES
Everything is scarce and farm-
ers are going to have to change
their buying habits to reduce the
impact on'their business. For ex-
ample , the normal procedure is
to pick up seed and fertilizer-on
the way to the field in the spring.
The same is,true for spray mater-
ials, baler twine , etb. .I don't
believe in hoarding but having
next summer's supplies on the -
premises before spring would,be
good management.
Getting a good buy has always
been an important part of purchas-
ing 'supplies. This year a depend-
able supply is more important
than saving a buck.'
