The marriage of Susan Dian
Brooks, daughter of "Mr . and Mrs.
Harold Brooks of 'Toronto and
George Douglas Burt son of Mr.
and Mrs. William Burt of Holy-
rood, was solemnized in St, Clair
Missionary Church ,' Scarborough
:on November 10th at 2 p.m.
Rev. David Illnian of Scarbor-
ough and. Rev. Edward Oakey of
Walkerton officiated at the double
ring ceremony.
The church was decorated with
a -basket of red and white mums
and candles. RN, and white roses,
and bows decorated the pews.
GiVen in marriage by her par-
ents , the bride wore a long-sleev-
ed floor-length gown of yolyeSter.
crepe. The entire empire bodice
was accentuated by French lace.
The, skirt was gathered softly and
flowed into an attached train.
Appliqued' flowers of french lace
trimmed and .enhanced the cuffs ,
train and lower front edge of the
gown. Her finger-tip veil of fine
tulle was held by a headpiece of
white rosettes and flower sprays..
She carried a bouquet , a "kissing
ring' of scarlet carnation and
white daisies,
Miss NanCy Lageer of Scarbor-
ough was Maid Of honour.
Bridesmaids were MiSs Evelyn
Han of Preston, Miss,.Cheryl
Mitchell of Michigan, Mrs.
Marjorie Fiancisco of Don Mills,
sister of the groom.
The attendants were similarly
dressed in floor-length scarlet
polyester skirts' with long-sleeved
blouses of snow white polyester •
crepe. The scooped neckline
with Peter Pan collar was accent-
ed = with a. scarlet bow. The softly
gatheied waistline was finished
with a white belt and oval buckle,
They carried nosegays of scarlet
carnations and white daisies.
Their headpieces were Of red and
'white daisies,
Michelle Brooks of 'Don' Mills,
niece of the .bride was flower
girl. She wore a floor-length ,
long sleeved gown of white poly-
ester satin. Red.and white acet- •
ate lace trimmed the bell sleev-
es , softly gathered waistline and
lower edge, of skirt. She carried
a' basket of scarlet flowers and'
white daisies. Her headpiece was
of red and white roses.
The groom wore a black crdsh-
ed velvet jacket with black satin ,
collar white ruffled shirt trim-
med in red and bow -tie 'of red
and black satin.
Groomsman was, Raymond Fran-
cisco.
Ushers were Edward Burt, of,
Goderich, cousin of the groom,
Kenneth Brooks and Avery Brooks,
both of Toront•o,and brothers of
the bride. .
The groom's attendants wore
black gabardine jackets with
white shirts and satin bow. ties.
Organist was Ellis.Lageer of
Toronto.
Soloists were Misses Bonnie and
Carol Cartwright 'of Toronto.
A reception and candle light
dinner followed 'at The Embers
Restaurant , which was decorated

The death of David McAllister
occurred on Saturday , December
29th at Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home , Lucknow where he had
been a resident for some time.
He formerly farmed on the=6th
concession of West Wawanosh.
Mr. McAllister was born in
West Wawanosh Townshi
April 4th, 1882, a saw • William
and Jane Ann McAllist r.' ,
He is survived by a niece -Mrs.
Tom (Margaret) Bailey of Oak
Lake; Manitoba.
He was predeceased by two ,
sisters Mrs. Archie (Betsy) Messe;
and, Miss J. I. (Phene) McAllister.
The funeral service was' held
.at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Wednesday , January
2nd. Rev. Glenn Noble was min-
ister.
Pallbearers were Guston Red-
mond , Cyril Boyle, Robert Mc-,
Allister , Donald Thompson, Wal-
lace Wilson, Benjamin Mole.
Temporary entombment was at
-Dungannon Ma.usoleurn;
with red and white streamers.'
The bride's mother wore a full-
length gown of pink and mauve
flowered polyester crepe with Cor-
sage of deep, pink roses. /.
The groom's mother chose a
fall blue polyester crepe gown
withlong sleeves and corsage of ,
lemon yellow roses.
For travelling, the bride and
groom wore matching pant suits.
Following a wedding trip the
couple are residing at West Hill,
Ontario. The ,groorn is ernploy-
ed with Borden Chemicals and
the bride is employed at Scarbor-
ough Centenary Hospital.

On the' funeral hour on 'Satur-
day the passing of Carlyle Lough-
ran was noted. On June 5, 1951
the late John McLean.sold the
store now occupied. by John Jam- .
ieson to Mr. and Mis. Carlyle
Loughran. They in turn sold it
to Russel Chapman June 25 , 1952.
On July 3, 1952 Russel Chapman
sold the store across from the Feed
Mill to Carlyle Loughran. Mr.
and Mrs. Loughran and family
then moved to Palmerston where
Mr. Loughran passed away. The
community extends their sympath)
to Mrs. Loughran and family.
Mrs. Gershom Johnston and
George Grigg were recent guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Smith
and family of Kitchener.
M. and Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw and
family arrived home fro'm'Florida
on Saturday. They experienced
no difficulties witlgas shortage.
