Inspiring Evening
At Ripley Church
5t. Andrew's United Church
was filled on Sunday evening ; with
members and friendrho were
given a rare treat. A local choir
known as "Joyful Voices" , and
composed of local Dutch follt,
gave a fine,presentation of hymns
and songs which were a , real inspir-
ation to their listeners. Don Cam
eron of Lucknow is conductor of
this choir. •
Mr. Kenneth McLennan of Tor-
onto then showed slides of India
where he had spent some time the
previous summer. Folks were es-
peCially interested in the two
Homes of Hope which JearrVan-
ier had established for mentally
retarded adults 'in Bangalore.
and Calcutta. Folks were 'amazed
at the great Crowds of people
everywhere , many living their
lives on the `streets,, but there was
joy on the faces of the people and
willingness to share whatever they
pad. In' many cases they were
very poor , with little .to share.
Arrangements had been made
by Mrs. Wm. Arnold-, President
of St. Andrew's U.0 . W. and Mr.
and Mrs. Baas Vanderhoek. An,
opportunity to .get to know each
other better was given over a
cup, of coffee, and it- is hoped we'
can share a similar experience in
the not too distant future.
Donald B. Blue expressed the
appreciation of all. present to the
choir .and Kenneth McLennan for
an inspiring evening.

Evening Auxiliary
The Evening Aukiliary of the
Lucknow Presbyterian Church held
their Christmas-meeting on Tues-
day , December 18 'at 8 p.m. in
the Church Basement with 20 lad-
ies present.
Miss Maudie Fisher president in
charge opened the meeting •with a
Christmas 'reading : I tlymn 113
"0 Come all Ye Faithful" was
sung. The scripture and medita-
tion was given by Mrs. Ross
Gamtnie.
Mrs. Ron Forster gaveseveral
' readings on Christmas legends. A
musical number by Mrs. Donelda
Scott on the piano called "Angel
of Night" was much enjoyed.
Mrs. Austin Linde presented
the topic "The Christmas Story"
based on legends and customs of
other countries.
The W. M.S . Purpose was re-
peated in unison and the roll call
answered
The business and
correspondence was discussed.
Mrs. Bruce Raynard g4ve the re-
port of the nominating coqimittee
and presented-the new slife of
officers for 1974. Mrs. Noble
Johnston was in charge of the
Installation Service,
A Chistmas poem was read by
Maudie Fisher. The closing
hymn was While Shepherds watch-
ed their flocks by,night and Mzs.
Lloyd Moffat gave the closing
prayer.
Lunch was served by the corti-
mittee , along .with a cup of tea '
and a social time.
Treat Injuries
At HOpital
Mark Nesbitt, age 3y Wirighaqi,
fell Off a snowmobile and lacerat-
ed his lip December 18.
Richard Whitby , age 14, Luck-
now , son of Mrs. Syd Whitby,
was admitted to hospital Decernbet
19 following a tobbogan accid-
ent. Apparently Richard was ,
riding down a hill at the Lucknow .
Ball Park ,when he was struck from
behind 'by another tobbogan and irr
jured his back.
Larry Schiestel, age 17, R. R.
2 Wingham; driver of snowmobile
was apparently crossing 'the Main
Street in Teeswater December 23
,
,
when he struck a moving vehicle
and a parked cal. Larry was ad-
mitted- to hospital via ambulance
with head injuries ,.abrasions and
contusions, and internal injuries.
He was 'transferred to Victoria •
Hospital , London in fair condition

On December 19 Susan Hayes,
age 15 , Wingham, had her foot
run over by a car driven by her
mother as .she was backing out of .
, 'a driveway.

Luclmow, receiveda laceration
to right eye area on December
21 when caught by a group of skat-
ers that fell at the Blyth arena.
Addin Dawson, R. R. 5 Luck-
nOw , age 18, fractured his left
leg. Decethber 21 when he fell
down a hay chute in his barn. He
was admitted to hospital, his con-
dition satisfactOry.
On December 22 James Collins,
Clinton, age 26 , while driving a
snowmobile ran into a barbed
wire fence on the Williamson farm
at Walton. He received lacera-
tions and abrasions to neck, and'
chin. Wingham 0.P.P ., Balzer
investigated.
William Stacey, age 20, R. R.
2 Wingham, was admitted .to ,
1Hospital via ambulance Decern-
• ber 23 with a fractured right leg,
I abraesions to chest after crawling-
, to a residence to. Call for assist.;
mice when the snowmobile driven
'by Theodore Saint struck some
trees near the Western Foundry.
Theodore Saint, age 25'., was
dead on arrival at the hospital.
