Reeve George W. Joynt was returned for his 8th term. Members of coun- cil remained unchanged . Mr. M. L. Sanderson ,,Omar Brooks. Harvey Webster, Bud Hamilton. Kinloss Township council was returned by acclamation with one change. Councillor Allan Mac- Intyre tendered his resignation and the vacancy was filled by Wallace Conn, a former councillor. Me.m- bers of the board were Reeve P. A. ' Murray, Jack Ackert, FAIburt Btish- VVilliam Evans and Wallace Conn, The Township of Kinloss' receiv- ed delivery of a new road main- tainer. The new Adams machine came equipped 'With plow and wing, and was reported ready for work should "Old Man Winter break loose". Joe Conley retired after 21 years as express and freight car- rier for Canadian National Rail- ways. He` was succeeded by El- don Miller , who had been assist- ing Joe for some time. Lorne Durnin was elected reeve of West Wawanosh Township, when he edged Reeve Harvey Culbert by nine votes. The elect- ed members of council were Hilliard Jefferson, Gordon Smyth, Bob Lyons Jr. and Harold Etrington. 30 YEARS AGO DECEMBER 1943 On the' recommendation of the School Inspector, the Lucknow School Board made plans for the serving of a noon-hour hot drink to public aad high school pupils. who were in the habit of bringing theielunch. The eight teachers on the staff took turns in supervis- ing the serving of this hot drink. Dr. E. B. Balfour of Lucknow passed away at.the age of 6O, Dr. Athitles -Ladies' and /loft Wear.: .
