Interment was in the family
plot in Greelthill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Petrie,
Wm. Linklater, Leonard Reed,
Gordon Anderson, Joe Durnin,
James C. Reed.
A combined memorial service
of the Goderich and 'Lucknow
members of the Royal Canadian
Legions was held at the funeral
home on Tuesday evening, ,Dec-
ember:

Died In The West
ALVIN PAUL REED
Alvin Paul Reed of Vancouver ,
British Columbia , passed away in
Vancouver General Hospital on
Friday, November 30th from
pneumonia
He was born in Ashfield Town-
ship on August 8, 1920 ihe young-
est of a family of seven born to
Jacob and Louise (Selby) Reed.
He is survived by three sisters
and two brothers, Mrs. Wilbur
(Thelma) Brown of Lucknow, Rus-
sell Reed of Goderich, Mrs. Jos-
eph (Lily) Petrie of Tillsonburg,
Mrs, Frank (Annie) Linklater of
Goderich, William Reed of Wing-
ham and was predeceased by his
parents and one 'brother Marvin in
February 1936.
The late Alvin P. Reed enlisted
in December 1941 with the Essex
Scottish Regiment and went over-
seas in D ecember 1942.
On March 5 ,1945 his parents
received the sad news that their
son Pte. Alvin P. Reed was offic-
ially missing and presumed a pris-
, oner of war. No' further word was
heard until three'months later
when his parents' received a cable
directly from Alvin himself froM
England.
,,/ After being hospitalized for
some time . he was later returned
to his home and honourably dis-
charged .
For the past twelve years Mr.
Reed has been an employee of
the B.C. Hydro.
The funeral service was held
at MacKenzie Memorial chapel ,
Huron Native

at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on
Monday , December 3rd.
He was born on concession A,
Lake Range, Httron Township*on
June 29, 1889 and lived in lituon
Township his entire life.,
He wed Elizabeth Courtney in
1917 whO survives along with one
brother William Of Kincardine
and one sister Mabel, Mrs. Hugh
Cameron, also of Kincardine;
also one son Chester of Huron
Township; four grandchildren and
one great grandchild. He was
predeceased by one broilier Char-
les and one sister Etruria.
Funeral services were, held from.

Home in Ripley on Thuriday, Dec•
ember 6 at 2.00 p.m.
Rev, John King of the Church of
Messiah, Kincardine and St.
Lukes, Pine River officiated. Mr.
Emmerton had been a member of '
St. Lukes, most of his life, except
for eleven years of which he was
a member of $t. Pauls Anglican
Church, Ripley.
iviembers of L.O.L. 1328 Am-
berley conducted a memorial
service on. Wednesday evening,
December 5. He was a member-
of the Orange order for sixty=six
