And A Visit From Santa,
Children Will Be The Special Guests
Workmen laboured right up un-
til the last minute putting the fin-
ishing touches on the newest
branch of the Royal Bank of Can-
ada -- right here on Willoughby
Street in Lucknow where the offic-
ial opening will take place Thins-
day of this week, December 13.
Construction on the 2,000
square foot freestanding masoliary
building began in late August , and
the interior now features graphic
art and bright decor -- a long way
from the banks of yore.
•Responsible for operatiolis at
the branch is Al Pacey, who brings
with him 20 years of banking ex-
,perience in Hatriston, Woodstock,
Toronto, Oshawa , Hamilton, Port
, Perry and Wiarton. Mr. Pacey
will combine overall responsiblity
for the new Lucknow and existing
Ripley branches with his position
as Agri-Bank manager in South
Bruce and North Huron Counties.
The day-to-day running of the
bank will be handled by Ray Nel-
son, officer-in-charge. Mr. Nel-
son, who has 11 years banking ex-
perience behind him , started his
career at Elmira , Ontario and was
previously the accountant at
Kingsville and in St. Thomas.
Mrs. John (Janice) Rutherford
of West Wawanosh will be the
branch stenographer. She comes
to the Lucknow branch after .2'1/2
years with' the Ripley branch. In
addition, three other positions
will be filled to handle the antici-
pated workload,.
One of the most interesting
features of the new branch is. the
Agri-Bank Service, offered to
area farmers. The service be-
gun locally in October. features
a mobile banking unit that brings
an "office-on-wheels" right to the
farmer's doorstep.
"Agri-Bank enables us to serve
the, special financial needs of
farmers and the agricultural indus-
try in the area more effectively,"
commented Mr. Pacey, who is in
charge of the service. Mr. Pacey,
who will spend about 80 per cent
of the day on the road and dealing
with on-the-farm assessments of
the farmers' banking needs, says
that the service has aroused 'wide-
spread interest in the Luclutow
area. "It enables the bank to
bring such specialized.-agricultur-
al banking services as Farmchek,
the /Farmplan Loan program and
life -insured loans for farmers right
to Where the business is done --
on the farm."
The public is invited to the
Grand Opening of the bank on
Thursday of this week. The, offic-
ial ribbon cutting will takeplace
at 12.15 p.m. and Santa Claus
will arrive at 12.30 and will re-
main' for one hour. Santa will
have 'a bag full of toys and candy
for the little ones as the, bank
hopes to make the .Grand
Opening a family affair.
There will be refreshments for
everyone and Christmas, tree cook-
ies as well. If you're wondering
what a Christmas tree cookie is,
it is explained very nicely in an
advertisement by the Royal' Bank
on this page.
