Township on the farm now owned
by her brother and sister-in-law ,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Black'. 'She
lived there until her marriage to
William Petrie who lived on the
4th concession of Ashfield town-
ship , where Mr. and Mrs. Don
Culbert now live.
They moved to their own farm
on the 6th of Ashfield , now' owned
by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Curran.
They farmed there until six years
ago, when they moved to Blake
Street in Goderich. '
The couple; has two sons, Allan
and ,Kenneth, both of Kincardine
and one daughter Mrs. John (Mar-
ina) Park of Dungannon. They
have six grandchildren.
The immediate family enjoyed
a dinner at the Bedford Hotel in
Goderich on the day of their mud-
versary„\ then were joined by
many friends and relatives at the
Petrie home.
Mr. and Mrs. Case Black of
Kitchener and Miss Melinda Black
of Goderich, their attendants fifty
years ago, were among their rela-
tives to celebrate the occasion of
their happy golden years.
Area Lady Passes
In 63rd Year
MRS. PHARIS MATHERS
The community was saddened
to learn of the passing of Mrs.
Pharis Mothers of R. R. 1 Lucknow
on Saturday , November 24th in
her 63rd year. Her death follow-
ed a short illness.
She was the former Maizie
May Hackett, daughter of Alex
Hackett of. Lucknow and the late
Janet (Hunter) Hackett, and was
born in. Ashfield Township on '
May 3rd , 1911.
On September 7th. 1935 at
Hackett's Church, Ashfield she
married Pharis Mathers.
Since their 'marriage Pharis. and
Maizie have farmed in Kinloss .
Township on Highway 86, some
three miles east of Lucknow.
She was a member of the Bruce
County Hiitorical Society, where,
with her husband , she had been
quite active. She was also an
active member of 'the Lucknow
United Church Wonien.
Mrs. Mathers is survived by
her husband, one daughter Mrs2
Wayne ;(Carolyn) Pepper , son-in-
law Wayne Pepper and two grand-
children Stephen and Jeanette of
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; her fath-
er. Alex Hackett of Lucknow and
four brothers Clifford of Goderich,
Tom of Lucknow, Melvin (her
twin brother) of Port Elgin and
Alex of Ashfield.
She was predeceased by her
mother.
The funeral service, was held
at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Monday, November
26 at 2 p.m. Rev. Robert Nich-
olls was minister.
Pallbearers were her four broth-
ers Clifford, Tom, Melvin and
Alex. Hackett and two nephews
Elvin and Harvey Wightman.
Interment was in South Kinloss
Cemetery,
LUCKNOW AREN.
