DANCE
On Friday. night, November 19
this month's student dance was,
held. Supplying the music was
Tobruk. The dance was well
attended and it is hoped every-
one enjoyed themselves.

ASSEMBLY •
On Wednesday morning, Novern'
ber 21, the secondary students and
the grade seven and eights assem-
bled in the gymn at
9.20. Clarke Birchard , head of
Outdoor Education frOm the Bruce
City office , introduced Mr,
Crickson, a Conservationist. Mr.
Crickson showed slides and talked .
about our Canadian environment
and of the U.S.A. and how they
plan on taking over some. of our
water. The Assembly lasted
around one hour when at this
time Mr. ,Crickson was thanked .
for providing R.D.S. with some.
excellent infortnation on our en-
vironment.
DRAMA
The play books arrived this
week and try-outs were held Mon-
day , Tuesday and Thursday. The
play is called "NO Boys Allowed"
and requires a large
number of aCtors. A practise
time has been picked, It will be
held Monday nights at 8.00
o'clock at the High School.
YEARBOOK 1973-1974
It seems that once again R.D.S.
will be having another yearbook.
The editor is Roy Ferguson with
Joan Courtney acting as his cap-
able assistant editor. Kathy.
Moore and Shirley Dickieson are
responsible for advertising while.
Kim Farrell is in charge of the
Activities section. Grant Farrell
and Mary Needham are' sharing
the job of sports editors; and
Liz MacKay and Kim Farrell will
be busy taking the pictures. The
Literary Editor is"Margie Collins
and Brian MacKay is acting as
treasurer. Kim Farrell, Liz Mac-
Kay and Joan Courtney are volun-
teering their valuable typing
skills. This is just a reminder
that each levells responsible for

BASKETBALL
The B.I.A. basketball season
is around the corner again and
R. D.S. will be represented by
energetic teams. With the Jr.
Girls' B.I:A. victory in volley-
ball, the future looks very-bright
for the up-coming season. There,
will be both Junior and Senior
Girls' teams with Doug Coultes
acting as coach. Tuesday , Dec-
ember 11, marks the first game as
Ripley meets Chesley. Good luck,

Intermural basketball is well on
the way With participation- from
almost everyone. There are five
teams in the Boys' and Girls' divi-
sion,
At the school' games, the R.D.S
cheerleaders will be accompan -
ied by Tobias, our mascott which
was recently purchased by our'
cheerleaders.
L' AVARE
French 51, accompanied by
Mrs. Katherine Collins, joined the
French students of k p. H. S. to
see the play L'Avare, at. the Univ •
ersity of Guelph. L'Avare (The
Miser) a French comedy was
written by Moliere, It's a story
of a man with a great deal of
money who cares only for his
money and almost has a fit when
he realizes that it has been stolen.
He accused every one, including
his family for the theft, The
story ends ona happy note as the
miser finds his money box ., and
his two children marry their 40v-
ers.
INTENDED FOR LAST WEEK
On Wednesday , November 14,
the Grade Eight class from R.D.S.
left early in the morning for
Toronto. They first went to Black
Creek Pioneer Village. After a
guided tour, the girls and the boys
split up to do different pioneer
crafts. While the. girls were
making butter , cookies, arid can-
dles, the boys made night sticks
and coat hangers. At the Science
Centre , they went into groups
to see most of the exhibits.. After
meeting' in the Sdience
Arcade for supper , they continued
their tour until'thebus arrived.
After a very tiring day, they re
turned to. Ripley at 10 p.M.
