THE CANADIAN FLAG'
• Most Canadians are proud of
' their country and this pride was
very evident to us this summer
when we had the• pleasure of visit-
ing England and Europe for the
first time.
Daily we met scores of tourists,
many of them young people , and
most of them very proudly carried
the Canadian Flag insignia some-
where on their person, be it a pin,
a sticker on their suitcasesor a .
sewed•on patch on their jeans.
The more conservative
types went with the pins and lug7
gage transfers, but it, was very
evident to all who came in con-
tact with Canadians that 'they
wanted fo be known as such and
were proud of the fact: _
In the European countries, where
• language might have caused a '
temporary gap in communications,
the 'Canadian flag insignia always
brought a warm smile and greet-
Canadians can be proud of
their stature in foreign lands and
they can be proud that they now
have,a flag which clearly distin-
guishes them in the eyes of the
world'. -
One of the greatest accomplish=
ments of the late Prime Minister
Lester B. Pearson was the crea-
tion of the Canadian flag which
we fly today: Mr. Pearson took
much abuse and criticism :during
this transition period , but only
the most backward looking citiz-
en could be critical of this accom:
plishment today.
As is the case with many things,
sometimes we have to'leave home
for awhile to realize the full im-
portance and stature of this flag
in the eyes of the world.
STRANGE MORALS
Notice where, Premier Bill Dav-
is has kicked back about' $22,000
to the public 'funds of Ontario
which he and his family and
friends used. up on "other than' pub•
lic business" in using government
aircraft for personal reasons.
Mr. Davis has also indicated
that as of September 1st , he and
his family will make any holiday
or personal trips on regular, com-
mercial flights. This new policy
also applies to the Cabinet and
senior public servants.
That's a' very noble gesture on
,the part of our premier and goyern
ment!
We wonder how long the people
of Ontario would have been "used''
had it not been that the govern-
ment was "exposed" at it's little
free-loading game. •
If an incident like this occurred
in private business, it would be
treated as fraud and would likely
be prosecuted as such.
But partisan politics breeds
strange morals among.men and '
women and the incident is' casual-
ly dismissed as a naughty deed.,
or even less.

Local 335. of the National Farm-
ers Union, held theii annual meet-
ing and pot luck supper at Brook-
side School on November. 22.
All members 'present were int-
erested in twine, fertilizer and
chemicals again this year. The
twine' was a National program and
at $6.60 per bale was a consider-
able savings to members. Only
through an organized group can
collective 'bargaining be
accomplished. .Because of the
confused situation in fertilizer
and twine at the present time , it
was the opinion of the members
that half the volume would be
bargained for now ,. and the rest
later.
Don Kossick, who is Kraft Boy-
cott *co-ordinator from the Nation.

talk. The.aim of the boycott,
