THAT Art Baker of Mount .Forest ,
a former resident of Lucknow, is
part of a group of men seeking
permission from the Canadian
Radio and Television • commis-
sion ,to operate a cable TV com-
pany in the Mount Forest, Harri-
ston, listowel, Arthur and Palm-
erston area. Art is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Baker and is
the operator 'of 'a nursing home
in Mount Forest.
THAT. an amateur coaches clinic
for members of the Lucknow
Skating Club was held at the,
Lucknow arena on Sunday morn-
ing of this week with about 25
yOung people and adults partici-
pating. Bruce Brady of Bayfield,
assisted by his wife Mrs. Fran
Brady , instructed those in attend-
ance.
THAT the Lucknow and District
Kinsmen sponsored a successful
dance. ir. the Lucknow Legion
Hall on Saturday night through
the co-operation of the Lucknow
Legion, who gave up their reg-
ular dance night. Proceeds of
the' dance went to Fred Edwards
and family. Fred was injured in
a fall at Douglas Point.
THAT a Shorthorn steer , owned
and exhibited at the Royal Win-
ter Fair, Toronto by Andrew
Gaunt of West Wawanosh Town-
ship, placed fourth in a class of
twenty-nine.
THAT Wilfred Pentland of Dun-
gannon placed second in the 2-
rowed barley division of the ped-
igreed seed competition at the
Royal Winter Fair in Toronto
last week.
THAT Jim McEwan of Kinloss.
his son Jamie, age 16 and. Allan
Vogrinetz of Walkerton recent-
ly enjoyed a moose hunting
outing 'to the' Elliott Lake Dist-
rkt of Ontario. The threesome
motored to Iron Bridge and
flew into the hunting grounds.
Poor foggy weather made it im-
possible for the plane to get
back in to pick them up and
'they came out the hard way, by
portage. The threesome didn't
shoot any moose, but. managed
;to shoot two bears, one of them
which was . fighting with a deer
when it was shot. The black
bears were 150 to 200 lbs each.
Allan downed them both.
THAT Blyth Lions Club has kicked
off a campaign to raise $44,000
for the installation of a new •
swimming pool in that commun-
ity. Blyth Lions, looking for a
major projeet, decided on the
pool against another proposal for
a $30,000 renovation to the en-
trance to their arena.
THAT Mrs. Buster (Mabel) Whitby
of Lucknow has been awarded the
position of operating the Lucknow
arena snack bar this winter and
has already commenced duties '
with the start of the season at the
arena. Mabel had been employ-
ed at the Manor Hotel in Wing-
ham.
At a special meeting November .
14th, Kinloss Township council
agreed to assume ownership of the
Kinloss Community Centre for the
purpose of taxes only. All coni-
mittments of any previous contract
would be carried out if the Hall .
ceased to be a' community centre.
This is a proposition to be present-
ed to the Hall Board at their an-.
nualnumting.

part time grader operator at $3.'00
per hour. Jim Murray, Gerald
Doelman and Ronnie IvIcQuillin'
were hired as wingmen for 1973-
74 season.

Falls From Ladder,
Back Iniured
Peter Cook of Lucknow 'is a
patient in University Hospital in
London •with back injuries suffer-
ed in a fall from ,a ladder while
siding a house in Ashfield Town-
ship.
Peter was working at the home
of Bob FarriSh• on the 12th of Ash-
field . He' was on a ladder when
the ladder sank into the soft ,
earth, throwing him off and about
15 feet to the ground. 'He landed
on another ladder on the ground,
Don Gjbson was working with him
At the time. The accident hap-
pened. on Tuesday , of last week.
It was at first thought that
Peter's injuries were more serious,
but by the -week end he was sit-
ting up and it was determined
there was no fracture of the hack
as.was rumoured.
