Stoney Creek, called in Ripley
last Wednesday afternoon on his
way back after attending a funer-
al in Kincardine. Henry was a
former beekeeper through this
area and at that time resided in
Kincardine.
FLORIDA HOLIDAY
Bill and Caroline ReeVes left
Ripley on Friday for a couple of
weeks vacation in Florida., After
that chilling rain, on Thursday ev-
eryone could stand some of that
Florida warmth and sunshine.

BUSINESSES CHANGE •

since they came here from Walk-

On. Wednesday of last week
George McDonald shipped his last
loads of hogs and on Thursday
Leonard Courtney became i the new
Ripley drover. • George ,.with the
assistance of his brother Murray,
• has been the drover since leaving
his farm on the second concession
of Huron Township some years
back. First Mr. and Mrs. Hiram
Pangburn operated this faim and
now Mr. and Mrs". Bill Danforth
for Some years, Since entering
the shipping of livestock George
has been a busy and successful
drover for the Co-operative ship-
ping association. ' He has'had the
pens:loading ramps and other face
ilities across from the former rail-
way station renovated, As of
Thursday, November 15 Leonard
took over. Cattle are shipped on
Monday and hogs' on Wednesday.
On Tuesdays it was an early rise
for both George and Kincardine
shipper Burton Shewfelt as they
:took turns driving to the-Ontario
Livestock Market in Toronto.
Fortunately both Mr. and Mrs.
George• McDonald and Murray Mc-
Donald and Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Reeves and family will continue to
live in Ripley.

VANDALS AT WORK
The saying used to be "paint
the town red". However ,
sometime between Saturday even-
ing and Sunday morning the door
and windows, of the Royal Bank
were daubed with .white paint `i•
and, also the Ripley Huron Districi
Recreation "thermometer" recent-
ly erected on the post•on the
north, east corner of the main inter
section. This was showing the .
progress in the gathering of funds
towards building, the new complex.
Ontario Provincial Police were
carrying on an investigation into
the painting.

The ladies of Knox Presbyter-
ian Church in Ripley held a succes•
sful bazaar and "tea last Saturday
afternoon. The weatherman fay -
eured with a dry day in a rather
wet week.
The new bank motor van or
"the bank on wheels" is a common
sight now. It operates both in
Lucknow and Ripley as we under-
stand it makes special banking
runs throughout these rural areas.
Last Wednesday evening it was
the first Juvenile Hockey game
in the Ripley rink with the boys
down from Kin,cardine. Ripley
won this opener which had a fair
attendance with parked cars on
both sides of the road from the-
Ripley Chopping Mill north to, Mrs
Marion MacTavish's driveway.
BUS TO FAIR„
Last Thursday morning a Bruce
Lines bus left Ripley shortly after
seven in the morning filled with
members 'of' the Ripley and District
Horticultural Society and friends
headed fora day at the Royal
Agriculiural Winter Fair. It arriv-
ed at the main entrance of the
Coliseum building at ten. The
return journey started from there
at seven in the evening. The trip
was organized by Mrs. 'Ma'rion
MacCharles add, Mrs. Bette Mac-
Leod_ ,Mrs, Walter Farrell of Kin-

in Toronto, Others took in the
afternoon horse show„ The 27

benches were always filed.

at the Royal. Sheaves from Mild-
may and Ripley received prizes.
The field crops were displayed on,
the East mezzanine floor - which
means upstairs over the East annex.
At the time of writing it is not
known what livestock won but Bruce
County and this area has had great
honours in recent years.
Rider's. Roost
Saddle Club
The regular .meeting of the
Riders Roost Saddle Club was
held at the home of Nina and
Ernie 'Silverstone at Ripley on.
November. 13th.
Nina Club Presidept for 1974,
brought to our attention the object
ives of the Club which bear re-
peating. They are as follows .
basically, to promote'safe and
sensible horsemanship, to learn
the functions and care of the
horse that the beginner and the
experienced ihare together,, and
that each member finds the Club
both enjoyable and informative.
The Club is' open to any interest-
ed persons, riders or non riders,
°children or adults.
Good , news of the Club was
rather scarce. Nina reported that
seventeen members took part in a
beach ride and weiner roast which
took place at her•home in Octob-
er , One rider rode forty-four miles
and another forty, that took in
two days riding. Ken Taylor, told
about plans for our Christmas
party to, be held in the Lucknow

"Sold" signs went pup at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mar-
tel-this past week.' Their home
is across the road from Ted Rouse's
Ripley Feed and Chopping Mill.
It is reported that they will, move
to Tiverton. Frank, Danielle and
sons Jean Pierre and Rene have
made many friends in. Ripley and
will be missed here , however
Frank will be nearer .to his job at
Douglas Voint and undoubtedly
they will be back.to Ripley from
time to time.
