Trophy
The annual Fall meeting for
District # 10 of Ontario Association
of Agricultural Societies was held
at Chatsworth Community Centre
Monday , November
Begistration and luncheon start-
ed at 11.30. Lloyd Harris, Presid-
ent of District 10 , presided fof ,
the meeting which started with a
sing song. Devotional exercises
were conducted by Rev. Kent
Gardiner of Chatsworth.
Words of welcome were from.
Robert Peacock, President of
Chatsworth Society also George
Kuhl, Reeve of Sullivan Town-
ship.
Mrs. Eldred Reid', President of
Ladies' Division and Lloyd Har-
ris, President of •Men's Division
gave. comments about several,
fairs they had visited and heard
from. Mrs. Reid visited 20 fairs
this fall and noticed entries were
down at most fairs but they all
were faVoured 'with good weather.
Mr. Harris said he enjoyed the
friendliness found at the rural fair.
'Art Peppin brought greetings
from the Ministry of Agriculture.
and Food , Toronto, and'stressed
the fact, of using local talent for
entertainment rather than having
expensive groups take all the 'pro-
fits. He also Stated 'that in no
way should a major project be
undertaken before asking permis-
sion from the Department. He
had one, sad note that Ontario •
Secretary Mrs. Allan Wilson of
Markham had passed away on
Suhday after a lengthy illness.
Several girls from Holland
Chatsworth School sang a 'number
of songs which were ,enjoyed .
The ladies and men divided for
separate meetings: Mrs. Reid
presided for the ladies. Mrs.
Oliver Mc Charles of Lucknow
z..onducted the election of officers
in the Ladies Department with.
Mrs. Eldrid Reid , Mrs. Dolly
Stephens and Mrs. Wm. Arnold
being returned to,office for anoth-
er year. A number of small prob
lems that had taken place at some
fairs were discussed. Sortie of the
lady judges tried to explain how
to overcome these problems. As .
time was running out the ladies
were asked' to look at the display .
of "Sewing with knits" after the
meeting.
The Men's Division nad a report
of the Tractor pulling competition
held at Teeswater which proved
very successful. Reports were also
given' on heavy and light horses.
Comments were given by 'Grant •
Sweiger of Markdale and Mae Bol-
ton of Walkerton of the Ministry
of Agriculture and Food.
Ken 'Reist was elected President
of ,District 10. He reported for the
Men's Division and Mrs. Lloyd
Stephens for the Ladies' Division
when they met again'.
Calendar advertising will be
used again next year, with the
calendars the same price as last
year. The Spring meeting will
be held at Chesley. It was an-
nounced that the convention will
be held at the Royal York Hotel
Toronto on February 20 and 21,
1974. Tommy Hnnter. Show will
provide entertainment on the
evening of•the 20th.
Lucknow once again was pres-
ented with the Don Lemon trophy
for delegate attendance.

noon in honour of W. A. Hum-
phrey's eightieth birthday. 'Many
relatives and friends called on the

Marie Mewhinney of St. Cath-
arines and Linda Mewhinney of
Kitchener were weekend
visitors with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Mewhinney.
The first Shoot Party of the
season will be held on Thursday
evening at 8.30 p.m. sharp.
Lunch will be served.
Mrs, Harold Gaunt attended the •
Women's Institute Convention at
London this week as a delegate
from Huron West .District.
Holyrood
The Holyrood Women's Institute
met op Thursday evening at the
home of Mrs, Jack Scott. Mrs.
Morgan Johnston presided and The
meeting opened with the Ode and
the Mary Stewart Collect.
Mrs. Lorne Eadie read the fin-
ancial statement, Mrs. Frank
Maulden reported on. the Rally at.
Chesley. Mrs. •Gerald Rhody and
Mrs. Wayne Rhody who ate the
leaders of the training course ,
'baked in a pie' , will demonstrate
on Tuesday , November 20th from
10 a.m. till 4 p.m. when all
Members and interested friends
in the community are invited. •
Mrs. Gerald 'Rhody will be
hostess for the Christmas meeting
with the exchange of the &in-:.•

was convener. Mrs.

of the 100 yrs, of the Royal Can-
adian Mounted Police. Mrs. Fred
Page and Mrs, William McPher-
son sang two duets "Because" and
"I'll Walk Beside You".
Mrs. Gerald`Rhocly gave the
Motto "Why I "am proud to be'a
Canadian". Mrs. P. A . Murray
gave a'reading and Mrs. Lyman,
Sutton conducted 'a contest on
Canadian placet.
Mrs. Raynard Ackert gave a
splendid report on the Area Con-
vention an, October 29th and 30th.
• Mrs. Morgan Johnston gave the '
courtesy ream* and the meeting
closed with'the Queen and Grace.,
