Mr. Joynt said that any side-
walk work on. Willoughby. Street
would have to be done in connec-
tion .with, or. following , the work
on the water system On that street.
Sidewalks would have to 'be situa

so as to be suitable for' year round
use. ,
He stated that the present side-

eastwas necessary.because the

dicated that any available money

Attend London Arts
And Crafts Sale
Mrs. Russell Phillips and Mrs.
Oliver McCharles spent the week
end in London representing the
Lucknow Craft Festival at the
London Arts and Crafts fall sale
held in the Progress building at
Western Fair grounds. '
Comparing this event with the
Lucknow Craft Festival, and for
'the size of the city, it .appeared
quite small, with about 1400
people attending.
The Lucknow craft Festival
committee met on the Monday
evening previous and the finan-
cial reRort indicates that there
will be considerably more money
to be shortly turned over 'to worth,
supporters.

To Pool Fund
Ontario,
September 10, 1973.
Mr. Donald Thompson,
The Lucknow Sentinel.
Dear Don,
Enclosed please find a
cheque for the Swimming Pool
Fund. 'Could you please see 'that
it reaches the correct people..
I've always enjoyed swimming
and know that our young people
make terrific strides ahead , both
in' self confidence and physical
conditiOning, when given the
facilities.
We have watched, and tried to
assist in swimming efforts, in
other towns, and know that such
efforts are very rewarding for
those taking part and for their
families. Even here in Nakina,
where we use a lake 3 miles
away, there haS been an unusual
improvement. ,
Five' years ago, very few could
or would swim. Short summers,
blackflies and lack of interest
discouraged everyone.
This year a service club put in
a diving platform and board, just
far enough off shore to entice.
people. Now its a bee-hive.
Everyone thinks he's the world's
greatest swimmer and diVer, and
the placels jurnpirig on into the
w ee* hours' of darkness; ,
Maybe someday Lucknow will
have a really great swimmer.
The germ ofintent and eagerness
has already been instilled. Shades
of Paul Henderson, of Frozen
Water Fame.
Best regards
Jim BUrns.
