sed sand it was decided to have a
dinner party. Mrs. Elmer Black
is 'delegate to the area convention.
The November meeting will be at
Mrs. Black's.
Mrs. Lorne Ivers, in her usual
stimulating manner discussed the
motto "Wholesome Stones are the
stepping Stones to great Nations".
Four walls do not make a home.
Love, consideration andlelp are
stepping stones in the homes
which lead to great nations.
Lester Pearson, Nellie McClung

Morgan Johnston ekpressed *
thanks to the ladies of St. Peters
who provided the meal and this
was replied: to by Mrs. Harvey
Mole.
The guest speaker for the even-,
ing was Colin MacKenzie of Tor-
onto , a member of the board of
general, purpose of the lodge and
'a summer resident at Point Clark.
He was introduced by Bob MacKerr
zie.. Mr. MacKenzie spoke of the'
value and good works of masonry
with particular reference to the
fact that the Mason.s established
the first continuing blood donor
clinic in the country. He also
Mentioned the scholarships and aid
for students which is provided
by the lodge. Jack Fisher thanked
the speaker.
Frank Maulden made reference
to the absence from the banquet
of Secretary Thomas Salkeld and
Mrs. Salkeld due to Mrs, Salkeld's
illness in hospital. It was the first ,
year in many that Mrs.
Salkeld was unable to provide the
flowers for the tables, a contribu-
tion she has P made to the banquet
for many years: Thanks was ex-7.
pressed to Mrs. Murray Culbert of
the Ripley area , who upon learn-
ing of Mrs. Salkeld's illneSs
through Mrs. Morgan Johnston,
provided a bouquet for each table.
Frank Maulden acted as chair-
man for a variety program of loc-
al talent which included violin
music by Elliott Carruthers, Mur-
ray and George McDonald accom-:
parried by Mrs. George McDonald
at the piano; vocal duets by Mrs.
Ted Page and Mrs. William Mac-
Pherson of the 10th 'of Kinloss
accompanied by Mrs. Duncan
Simpson on the piano; a mono-
logue by Mrs. Ro9ald Forster;
musical numbers by Don Cameron.
On sax and guitar', son Colin on
trumpet and daughter Barbara on
piano; Jim DeZeeuw of Teeswater
with accordian music and humour;
Cyril Brown on guitar and Mrs.
William Scott on 'piano and
accordian.

to the. Dungannon Women's Insti-
tute for their October meeting..
Everyone was happy to have the
president, Mrs. Harvey Alton
back and feeling better. After the
opening Ode and Mary Stewart
;:ollect a goodly number of mem-
bers and friends answered the roil
call.. A touch of nostalgia was
felt as, "a verse from your school
book" recalled many forgotten
poems.
