Bed Bugs
The fifth and sixth meeting
were combined and held Monday
evening , October 22; 1973 at the
"Lucknow Central Public School.
Diane MacKenzie brought the
meeting to order and the Pledge '
was repeated. Roll calls were
answered by all members. The
secretary gave the minutes of the
last meeting and these were adop-
ted as read. . Coralyn Henderson
read the treasurer's report.
Because time is getting short ,
it was decided to combine the
fifth and sixth meeting. The
scrim which sonic girls ordered
for dresser scarves is not avail-
able for four_ar ,Scar-'-
let fabric was decided upon for
the next choice,
Karen Elliott had the cover
finished and all were pleased with
ihe results, The cover and mat-
erials will be passed to each girl
in the coming week and hopefully
all covers will be completed by
next week. '
Mrs. Bolt demonstrated 'how to
00 Italian Hemstitching and
Machine Blind Hemming. The
Hemstitching' was. rathet difficult,
and took most Of the evening to
do. Some girls didn't get their
sample of Machine Blind Hemming
finished but this is rather easy and
can be done at home.

The fourth meeting of the Clov-
er Valley Lazy Marys was held on
Monday, October 15 at 7..00 p.m.
at the home of. Lynn Elphick. An
nette Elphick, opened 'the meeting
with the 4-H pledge. The toll
call was "Any rearrangement
made in my bedroom." The
MinUtes of the last meeting were
read by Joyce Osborne. The next
meeting will , be held on Monday,.,
October 22 , at 7.'00 at the home
of Joyce Osborne.
Plans for Achievement Day
were disensse& by both Mrs. El-
phiek and Mrs. Hamilton. It
was moved by Annette Elphick
and seconded by Joyce Osborne -
that Donna Elphick and Wendy
Hamilton be commentators for
Achievement Day. Mrs. Hamil-
ton demonstrated how to, insert
a zipper and hoW to , make a mit-
red corner. Italian Hemstitching
was demonstrated by Mrs. El-
phick.
Our. group work was to work on
our accessories. .We'closed with '
the 4-H Creed.
Chamber
Charmers •
• The fifth meeting of the 4-H
Chamber Charmers took place
Saturday, October the 20th at the
home of Betty Colwell.
Nancy de Boer opened the
meeting with the 4-H Pledge. ,
Anne Colwell took roll call "One
characteristic of a good bedroom
accessory. She then read the
minutes of the last meeting which
were adopted as read.
Mrs. Haldenby showed us hOw
to put a zipper in. The girls who
did zippers did a sample for their
books. The other girls worked
with Betty Colwell on Italian
hemstitching.
The next meeting will be Oct-
ober 27th at 1.30 p.m. at the
home of Nancy de Boer. The
meeting adjourned at 3.40 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sullivan
of Toledo, Ohio, and friends
spent the week end here with Mr.
and Mrs. Wayne Cadotte. The
Cadotte family live just west of
St. Andrew's Church and Mr. and
Mrs. Sullivan are Mrs. Cadotte's
parents. Mr. Sullivan
is a'railway engineer driving 'a
train from Ohio into the city of
Detroit.

The Mandeen Farms of conces-
sion 10 , Huron Township , operat-
ed . by Jim and Dorothy Needham ,
and family , won some top prizes
in the Black and White , or Hol-
stein Show , at the recent Tees-
water Fair,
On Thursday evening an
unidentified flying object, corn-
monly known as an U.F.O. , was
in' the southern sky. 'It was report-
ed by Mrs. Leslie Wardell of.con-
cession four who stated that exam-
ination with binoculacs showed it
to be oval in shape and have
lights. At this time it was in a
stationary position. Just a few
weeks ago another one was report-
ed farther south in. Ontario. Even-
tually it landed and proved to be
'a 'weather balloon from United
States.

Handicrafters
The St. Helen's Handicrafters
opened their sixth meeting with
the 4 ,H Pledge followed by the
roll call "One thing I already
know about Scandinavia or
Finland" , answered by all mem-
bers. We discussed our covers
and/ received the lettering for
them, and diseussed the plans for
the last meeting.
We took up meeting 6's hand-
out sheet and Home Assignment
for meeting 5.

The girls were then given time

for their books or if this was fin-
ished anything that needed' finish-
ing.
