The cross country running is consider- ed a tough race which a lot of boys' are taking part in. The girls' race is easier because it is shorter and they don't have to jump the creek and other things. by Jamie Easton. SOCCER , The team of 2, John Peil's leam'and team 1, Jeff MacTav- ish's team, are going into the boys' soccer play offs. Team-1'has won three ,,tied two and lost two gam- es. Team 2 has won four, tied two and lost one game. On October 12th, playoffs will be held between Team 2 which is in first place and Team 1 which is in second place.' Gary Kaye of Strafford spent the week end with her parents Mr., and Mrs. Robt. Siinpson. Mr. and Mrs. Bill :Van Qsch of the Kintail Store, and sons Bernie and Jim accompanied the Kingsbridge Grade 8 students and teachers by plane to British Colum-, bia leaving Monday. Many im portant places of interest have been planned for their visit and it should be 'a very interesting trip. The store is closed this week while they are away. Mrs. Pearl Cole visited with Mr. and Mrs. Joe MaeIntyre and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vassella and attended the Hogan reception on Saturday evening. MEET THE TEACHERS NIGHT A meet the teachers night was held at North 'Ashfield school on Monday evening from 7 until 9.30. The Principal Mrs. Margaret MacCharles and Mrs. Marian Mowbray assisted by the Special Education teacher Mrs. Mary 'Bere and the music teacher Mrs. Lillian Simpson greeted the parents and discussed schocil activ• ities. 'Coffee and cookies were served in the Staff Room by two grade six girls Lynn, Taylor and Janet MacDonald. The teachers were pleased with the splendid turnout of interested parents.. mrs. Jack Mackenzie visited on Saturday at Kincardine Hospit- al with her father Mr. Bert Wald- en, who has been ill. His many friends wish for him improved health. . Mrs. Margaret Elliott of Kincardine was a guest last week with her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Donald Simpson and family. Mrs. young• conducted a discus- sion with the children asking them to name things for which they might be thankful. Deut. 26: 1-11 was,read. The story "The Children's Offering" was read by Nancy de Boer after which our I Thariltsgiving offering was receiv- ed. Everyone divided into groups to make •stuffed turkeys. The meeting closed with another sing song and the Lord's prayer.
