Thompson, Publisher A very successful Polled Here- ford Cattle production sale , from. the herds of George Kennedy of • West Wawanosh, Pine Echo Farms with guest consigner Beaverdale • Farms of Dundalk, was held at the Walkerton-Hanover Sale Barn on Saturday. George Kennedy, who' has been in the registered Hereford busi- ness since 1920, has become wide ly known for his annual sale and ;,the quality of cattle which come under the auctioneer's hammer. Gordon Ribey and Brian Rintoul were the auctioneers. Total gross for the 'sale was $34,575. Pine Echo Farms, grossed , - $24 , 045 and the average for 22 lots was $1093. Beaverdale Farms grossed $10,530'and the ayerage for 15 lots was $702. Top lot of the day was from the Pine Echo Farms consignment. A cow was sold to James Milliner and Sons of Dundalk for $1110 and the calf went to Kathleen Hunter of Port Dover for $76.0-. The second top selling lot was also from Pine Echo Farms. A' cow was sold 'to Edward James Wood of Cargill for $995 with its calf going to Brian Rintoul of Whitechurch for $670. Other purchasers and the prices paid were recorded at the sale. Rettirif From Trip Tp West Bruce County Plowing Match Held In Culross Despite the pouring rain which fell all day Saturday , the Bruce County Plowing Match, held at the farm of Doug Simpson on the 4th concession of Culross, was very well attended. There were 8 classes with 24 entries. Classes and prize win- ners will appear next week. A banquet was held in the even- ing at the Knox Presb)iterian Church basement with 60 in attendance. Doug Simpson was master of ceremonies and Ron Hill was the official judge for Queen of the Furrow candidate. Mrs. Pat Young of Chesley re- ceived the hOnoured title. The Bruce County Association is presently working On plans for the '1976 International Plow- ing Match which will, be held in Bruce County near Walkerton. Stocker Sale Has $135,000 Gross. A second Fall stocker cattle sale was held Monday at the Lucknow Cbmmunity Sale Barn Sale manager is Robert IvicIntos, 424.c att le went through the auction ring. The sale grossed' $135 VZO. • Three heifer calves ayeragini 425 lbs. Were sold by Fred Mc. Quillin of West Wawanoih to Bi Button of LucknoW for 550. Five heifers averaging 645111 were sold by Bob Lyons of West Wawanosh to Neil Mackenzie Ashfi6ld ,for 49,70. .
