The home of Mrs. Torn Mac-
Donald was the place of a pleas-
ant gathering when the ladies of
the village gathered on Wednesday
afternoon for a farewell party.
The hostess extended a welcome
and led in a sing song. "The
more we get to get her" , "She'll
be coming out' by Kinloss" and
"It isn't any trouble just to smile"
and concluded with a poem. ,

A reading "My patchwork quilt"
was given by Mrs. George Graham
A mystery box was •passed and Mrs.
Gertrude 'Walsh was the winner.
She also gave a reading "Take
time". Miss Edna Boyle conduct-
ed a contest on "Proverbs• and
old sayings".
An "age contest" was conducted
by Mrs. Walter Breckles. Mrs.
Ken MacDonald gave a reading "
"Cap it off". Mrs. Roy Schneller
read "The good old days''' and
"The quilters" . Mrs. Ruth Wilson
read a, tract'Two ways".
At this time an address was read
by Mrs. Bert Nicholson to Mrs.
Hewitt• and the presentation of
sortie personal and useful articles
was made by Mrs. Chris Sheltan.
Mabel expressed her appreciation,
for the kindness shown to her.and
Miss May Boyle thanked all those
who took part in the program.
Grace was sung and delicious
refreshments were served.
GIRL GUIDE NEWS
The second meeting of the
Lucknow Girl Guides was held
October 4 at the Town Hall with
all members present. The meet-
ing was opened with roll call,
followed by Horseshoe formation
and flag'raising. The. Guide
Prayer was repeated by all.
It was announced that because
of the rising cost of supplies, dues
would be increased Lo 150.
, The. Parents Association is
sponsoring a Tupperware party to
help raise money for our'planned
bus' trip to• Toronto.. It will be
held October 18th at 8.09 in the
Town Hall.
Captain Helm and Susan Thomp
son presented the 'new changes
in the method of Guiding to the
Company.
The girls went into patrol corn-
ers to discuss the results of the
Court of Honour meeting., The
company was then given their
choice 'of interest groups to join
in, in which they, started badge
work.
Campfire' was led by the Scar-
let Tanagers. The meeting was
closed with vespers and taps.
