LUCKNOW SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ,ONTARIO Fine Weather Favours Dungannon Fair Dungannon Agricultural Society held a successful Fall Fair on • Thursday, September 27. • A parade, led by Fair officials, began the afternoon's activities. Included' in the parade were 15 horses and ponies, a float entitled "Dungannon Day, Care" , The, Lucknow Pipe Band, St. , Joseph's Separate School children and Brookside Schoolchildren. Bob Meyer of Teeswater was master of ceremonies for •events held infront of the • • . grandstand.. The school children sang, Brookside School accom- panied by Don Cameron on the guitar and St. Joseph's.accom- panied'on the piano by Mrs. Dun- can Simpson. Ron Alton of Lucknow 1st vices president of the Dungannon Agri- cultural Society , op behalf of • Fair President Douglas Kerr, spoke words of welcome. Bob McKinley, M.P. for Huron spoke. Past. President Gordon Smyth introduced Murray . Gaunt , M. P. P. for Huron -Bruce who., opened the Fair. • Chairman Meyer announced that. Marvin Durnin, who.was in the judges' stand had been secret- ary -treasurer of the Fair Board for the past 31 years. • David Finnigan of Ashfield won the Parade Class. Margaret Shob- brook .of Blyth was second, Mrs.. Ron Alton of Lucknow', third, Mrs. Norma Riley of Seaforth,. fourth, Ralph Aalders of Lucknow fifth. : Bob McKinley presented the Skyway Market trophy` to David Finnigan. As this .s the third con- secutive year David has won this trophy, he will now keep it. Blair Alton of Lucknow won the Simpsons Sear Trophy presented 15y Murray Ga:unt`1 for the pony owned and ridden b}f a boy or girl 12 and under, within 20 mile radius of Dungannon. Blair was followed by Terry Taylor , Jim Kerr, Fran- kie Renwick, Davi. Aalders and Lori .Aalders,, Smith Lowry of Tiverton had the only entry in the class for Hackney team in harness. Perrin Lowry of Amberley showed in the Hackney Pony Team class. Frank Renwick of Teeswater was first .and Perrin Lowry of Amberley was second in the Hackney singles Arnold Young of Goderich was first, George Gregg of Paisley was second and Bob Aitchison of Lucknow and Carman Fullerton of Paisley were third in the four- horse hitch. Other winners were: Half mile , running ra'ce - Doug Riley , Ndreen Straughan, Betty Hendricks, Wayne Straughan, Lennis ,Yeo; Pony running race (12 hands and -tinder), open to "Ashfield, West Wawanosh and Colborne Townships. and' Huron Trail, Riders Blair Aitor Leroy Drennan, Greg Riley, Hery Van Rooy , Terry Taylor; English Saddle Class -Marg Shobbrook of Blyth , David Finnigan of Dun- gannon, Mrs. Ron Alton of Luck - now , Lise Gunby of Dungannon; Best light mare and foal - Mrs... Ron Alton, Lucknow;, Best match- ed team on grounds Arnold . Young of Goderich, George Gregg of Paisley., Carman Fullerton of Paisley, Perrin Lowry of Amber - ley; Best groomed . light horse - Clare Campbell of Listowel, Jim 'McKague of Belmore, Mac Arm- strong of Beachville. George Gregg' of Paisley was the major winner in the Clydesdale class. ArnoldYoung of Goderich and Bob Aitchison, Lucknow were winners in the Belgian Class. Carman Fullerton of Paisley was major winner in commercial horses. Clare Campbell, Listowel Jim McKague, 'Belmore , Mac Armstrong, Beachviile , Sam Cur - ley , Jarvis were winners in the Roadster Classes Western Pleasure: Robert Wright, Dungannon, Norma Riley, Win- throp , Kim Riley , Winthrop, , Blair Alton Was A Double Trophy. Glenn McNeil of R. 6 Goderich was top dairy showman. in the Dungannon 4-11 Calf Club compe- tition and ompe-tition'and also won the senior Holstein division. Best beef showman was Michael Hackett of Lucknow. The Eatons'of Canada livestock special trophy in the open cattle class went to Andrew Gaunt of Lucknow. He was also top Short- horn showman. Cliff McNeil an" Sons of Goderich topped the Hol • - stein class. BABY SHOW The Baby Show drew a very small number. Jason Lorne ;.son of Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips of Dungannon was the only entry in the up to 6 months class. Paula Dawn, daughter of Mr. - and Mrs. Dennis. Vanderburgh of Goderich, was first in the 6 to 12 months class. Dennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Parks of Dun gannon , was second. Kimberley Anne , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed O'Neil of Goderich, was third. There were three entries in this class. Because of the small number of entries in the first two classes a third class was added for 12.to 18 months. There were three entries in this class. AI#ATdN' I5:11IT A 'TOY. -ARE NUA1 The 1st Lucknow Brownie Pack I held their first rneeting for the Fall season on Tuesday , Septein- ber 24th. We opened the meet- ing with two games, "Human Ladders" , and "One Of Us Has Gone Away" We then had Brownie Ring and we had nine Tweenies• around the Toadstool. They were Tracey McDonagh, Michele Humphrey Kimberley Sanderson, Donna Humphrey , Rosalea Cameron, Sandra Campbell, Rosemary Gilmore Sharon Struthers and Janice McInnes. At Pow Wow Brown Owl explain- ed the Sixer and Seconder stripes to the Pack. Snowy Owl reviewed the Finger Code Alpha- bet with the Brownies. Tawny Owl asked everyone to try and bring a sit -upon to the next meeting. The meeting was closed with the Squeeze and Taps. The Brownies passed through the Arch as they left for home.
