Ira Dickie was hostess to Kaixshea W.I. for the September meeting., Mrs. •Clarence Ritchie presided and opened the meeting in the usual manner. Mrs. Harry. Lavis read the scrip- ture from 1 John, chapter 4. Business was dealt with. Mem- • bers were reminded of the Rally in Chesley, October'18. Mrs. Ena. Steer. and Mrs. Sharon Mac- Dougall are delegates to attend. Several members gathered at the W.I. Hall for an afternoon and made 40 'plaid tams for a District project. The reports of Standing Corn - mittees were given and •the roll call answered - How to make W.I. enrich our lives and not wear us out. Mrs. Harvey Houston introduced the District President Mrs. James Kirkpatrick of Ripley, who gave many ideas and thoughts to think about relative to the District work of W.I. She concluded with the thought.- To have •a friend is 'to be one. Mrs. Ira Dickie thanked Mrs. Kirkpatrick and presented her With a gift: Mrs. Lynda Young gave a dem- onstration and talk on a Tailor- ing Course which she took last April. This was most Informative. Mrs. Marion Campbell showed how to cover -steel coat hangers by using ends of yarn. Mrs. Harry Lavis gave courtesy remarks and the meeting closed with 0 Canada and Grace. Mrs. Harold Campbell and Mrs. Harry Lavis helped the hostess, serve, a cup of tea, cake and ice cream. Note change .of date. The' October meeting will be held at the Institute Hall at '.8 p.m. October 11. Mrs. Bob Gilchrist will be hostess. Madill Sec- ondary School, Wingham stiggests a wide variety of subjects to suit all tastes. A .total, of 20 courses are slated to start on Tuesday,. October 16th and Wednesday, Oct- ober 17th at 8 p. m. New courses will include Pottery . without a Wheel to be taught by, Mrs. Pat Wilson, Art Instructor at the school; General Electricity by G. Edwards and Bas- ic Transistors by Rod Wraith,.also on the regular F. E. Madill staff. Know Your Car will be taught by J. Bakelaar. . Introductory Bookkeeping and Basic Office Practice , along with Drafting and Blueprint Reading, are being re-introduced after a lapse of three years. A new course in Stretch Fabrics to run 10 weeks will 'be offered on Wednesdays in two sessions 7 to 9 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m. and Mrs. M. Elliott 'of Mary's Sewing Centre in Clinton will instruct both sesSions. Popular courses from previous seascifis ate again being offered and these include - Farm Engines. Maintenance , Upholstery , Wood- working , Ladies Physical Fitness, Liquid Embroidery, Typing, Con- versational French, Gourmet Cooking, Welding. Sewing and Oil Painting. P p
