ball team were leading in a
tight game with Rostock 5 to ,4
runs in a game here. Howeyer
it just took the one hit to make'
the score, 6 to 5 and Rostock had
won the series. The last games
were all close - one run apart.

BACK TO SCHOOL AGAIN!
With the first week of Septem.-
ber already upon us, the students
and teachers are making their way
back to R.D.S. There are
quite, a few changes this year with
a lot of the old familiar faces
missing, making their mark in the
outside world , grades seven and
eight occupying the upper rooms
of the school and the seventy
minute periods that, all, make a
part of the new semester system.
At this time, we would like to
extend a hearty welcoMe in the
traditional R.D.S. way to
everyone, especially Barry
Pollock whp is entering leYel five

With the absence of Bev Smith,
the new editor of the high school
section is Dianne MacKay. A
student of level V , Dianne is very
busy with 4-H and TuniOr.Farmer
•Activities. Ably filling the assist-
ants' boots are Janice Reeves •
and Wayne Nicholson. Janice is,
presently in level three and is
quite active mall school activit-:
ies. This summer; Janice was a
playground leader in Ripley and is
indeed ready for a year Of peace
and quiet. Last but not least is
Wayne Nicholson from level four
who will be responsible for the
sports at R.D.S.', wMch he enjoys
participating in. With a crew
like this, we will do our utmost to
keep Ripley and the surrounding
cornmunity.aware of Our activities.
ELECTION FEVER
Next Septernber, 20 is election
day at R.D.S. With the student
body selecting their new Student's
Council. Gail Messenger and
Ray Ferguson are vying for the
position of President while Brian
MacKay and Joan CoUrtney are
seeking to be the Vice President.
Candidates for the office of sec-
retary are Patti MacDonald ,
Margie Collins and Julie Reeves;
Wray Thompson, Carol MacKay
and Mary Needham are eagerly
contesting for the position of
treasurer. Each candidate select-
ed a campaign managerand al-
ready colourful posters are adorn-
ing the school's interior.
STUDENT COUNCIL DANCE
Our first school dance will be
held on Friday, Septeniber 21.
"Farrow". will be providing the
music for the dance which runs
from nine to twelve. Be sure and
come out to have a great time !

INVESTMENT CLUB
The inyeswient club has started
up again this year in R.D.S.
Again on the executive is Wray
Thompson who was voted in as
Ptesident. Jeff Rouse, a new
member this year , was voted into
office as secretary-treasurer. The
club' this year are selling their
shares for $1.00 each. Anyone
'wanting to buy shares just see
Wray and hopefully by the end of
the year 'you'll end up with more
than you started' with. Thf club'
will again this year be running
the pop machine in the cafeteria.
