The Ashton business was estab-
lished by Lloyd and Janet Ashton
in 1947 as a, children's wear store ,
later including ladies' wear , and

years and•the late Mrs. Ashton
was actively involved in the busi-
ness until her death. During those
years, the store expanded to add

men's .wear in the adjacent store
at one time the location of.

Mrs.' Eileen Ashton, the former
Eileen Lavis, has been associated
with the store ,fOr the past twen-
ty years.

Rev. T. J. McKinney of Tees-.
water has accepted a call to St.
Paul's Presbyterian Church, Port
Hope, where he will begin his
ministry to that congregation in
the /near future, after serving, the
Teeswater Presbyterian congrega-
tion for almost 19 years..
• Mr. and Mrs. McKinney came
to Teeswater in December , 1954
from. Northern Ireland,where he
had served as minister at 'the Salt-
ersland Presbyterian Church' for
13 1/2 years. In October of 1955 ,
the Kinlough charge was added to
his.duties .ancl he, has served both

Their family of three, who were

came to Canada , are now all

Died In 55th Year
The death of Mrs. Lloyd Hunter
of Luckhow occurred in Wingham
and. District Hospital on Monday,
August 27th in her 55th year..
Her death followed a lengthy ill-
ness.'
The funeral service will be, held
on Thursday, August 30th at
2 p.m. at MacKenzie Memorial
Chapel, Lucknow with interment
in Greenhill Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Maize were mar • -
ried August 30, 19.23, at Victoria,
,Street United Church, Goderich by
Rev. John Hedley.
Mrs. Maize was the former Ida
Glazier, daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John GlaZier of Ashfield
Township:. Mr. Maize's parents'
were the late Mr. and. Mrs. Albert
Maize, also of Ashfield.
Following a wedding trip to
Toronto and Guelph, they resided
on the groem's farm in Ashfield
until-1961, then moved to Luck-
now where they now reside.
They have a daughter, Mrs.
Glenn (Ellen) Springer of Tillson-'
burg, three Sons John and Harold
of Dungannon and Gordon of Luck•
now, also twenty-one grandchild- •
ren.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Rohrer and
family, who operate a retail
general store on Highway 36, 4
miles east of Lucknow, have sold
the business and property to Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Cayley of Kinloss
Township. The transaction will
become effective in• mid Septem-
ber or early October.
Mx. and Mrs. Rohrer, natives
.of Pennsylvania , came to the
.Ripley area about ten years ago
.and About five years ago establish.
ed their business on Highway 86'
'where they built the store. They
had earlier purchased 60 'acres of
property from Stan Kay on what
.was known as the Gillies farm.
,As well as the store ,"they Carried
on a farming operation with the
emphasis on market gardening
and became well known over, a
*wide area for. their produce.
Mr. and Mrs. Rohrer have a
family of 16 and all but 4, mem-
bers of the family will go with
them to Eastern Ohio where they

John Kilpatrick, a former Luck.
now resident who has been liVing
'in Arkona for some time,- died
last Friday after a lengthy illness.
He was in his 71st year.
A bus load of about 25 mem-
bers of Old. Light Lodge' in Luck-'
.now, with several visitors, went
to the Gilpin Funeral Home in
*Thedford on Sunday where a' Mas.-
'onic Memorial Service was con-
ducted.
Mr. Kilpatrick was a member
of Old. Light Lodge here;
Burial was in Greenhill Cemet-
,ery, Luoknow on Monday.
