Youth Exchange

This summer I had the opportun•
ity to participate .in the N.F.U.
youth exchange program. Some
365 young people from all across ,
Canada took part in this, exchange.
I left home on Wednesday. July
11 and travelled by train to Edrnon-
tdn, Alberta. •There I was.pick-
ed up and brought• to my host
• family'S plaCe, 'Mi. and Mrs.

Alberta. I stayed there for ten
days.
Differences that I noted he-

great deal about their County
through all phases of :their-work,
but particularly through the
interviews. Being :a student now
sounds a lot, easier thah being, one
in 1905.. As Mr. Robinson put it
"That was when we really went to

stick or something ... it was
'Come Or I'll fetch you."

Miss. Jane Ahrens, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Norrnan Ahrens
R. 2 Elmwood, has been award-
ed the Annual Bruce County Wom
en's Institute Scholarship.
Jane has been in .4-H Home-
making Club work for seven
years and has completed fourteen
clubs to receive both County
and Provincial Honours. In 1972
:Jane was chosen as a. delegate
to attend the Provincial Girl's
Conference. in Guelph'.
School and Community, alike,
find Jane actively involved -
school 'activities, such as 1972 ,
• yearbook Editor and 1973 'Layout
Editor. Jane won the general
proficienty award for Grades 9,
10,..11 and 12 and was on the Hon-
our Roll of Chesley District High
School for Grades 9', 10,,11 and
12. She has also been named as
a 1973 Ontario Scholar. •
Jane plans to continue her edu
cation at the. University of Guelph,
at McDonald Institute in the area'
of Family and Consumer Studies.
Her hobbies are guitar, sewing,
cooking andreading,
