As Postmaster
At Dungannon
DUNGANNON NEWS'.
On June 29, '1973 , Alvin Sher-
wood was presented with a fram-
ed certificate in recognition of
25 years of service as postmaster
in Dungannon, The area manager,
R. B. Kueneman and the super-
vising postmaster, A. M. -Homuth ,
Goderich, made the presentation.
This honour is shared by Mrs.,
Alvin Sherwood , who is the assist-
ant and is in the office most of
the time.
Alvin Sherwood was appointed
postmaster of Dungannon in the
Spring of 1947, succeeding the.
late Thomas Stothers who had
held the position for
35 years (1912-1947). •The late
W. A. Stewart was an assistant..
The location of the postoffice
was changed from the bank
block to farther south on main .
street - Southampton Street. '
R. R. # 1, Dungannon has 65
boxholders and is over 20 miles
long. It covers the 4th and 6th
concessions of Ashfield Township
to the Bluewater Highway as well
as seven spur lines on the side -
roads in between'. This is an
increase in numbers, and a•few
name changes have been made.
