Teacher With
Special Events

Mrs. Ira Dickie of Lucknow. , Sev •

followed. At the Principals' •
Meeting • May 15th, Mrs. Mac-
' Iver was honoured by Ian
Buchanan, principal of John Dear-
ness Public School, who related
.her life history in poetry. a A. gift
certificate was also presented.
On May 25th, at the Quarter
Century.and'Retirement dinner
given by the Board of Education,
she had the pleasure of replying
to the toast given by Trustee Ross
honouring the retirees.
The London Women Teachers'
Association, May 30th,• presented
a beautiful silver tray with her
name inscribed, following' their
.dinner hour.
On June 7th at Centennial -Hall,
•all the principals and teachers re-
tiring from the London staff,
along with teachers from all the
sixty-eight schools gathered from
4.30•- 6.00 p..m. After .several
speeches, each retiree was pres-
ented with a framed certificate on
which was inscribed their years of
service.
Then followed the Grade 8
Graduation, June 19th, at which
time Mrs. MacIver presented the
,print of ,the 1867 Bruce Directory.
It was hard to'understand why
everyone had not purchased this
fine reference book.
Robt., Courtney displayed the
MacDonald Family Tree prepared
by Andrew MacDonald of Detroit
over a 6 -year :period. He' also had
a picture of his great grandparents
and said a 14Oth Reunion for the
Scott -Dickson families :was being,
held in August.

Ivirs. Ross Cumming of Port
Elgin gave a short report of the
Ontario Genealogical Seminar
held recently at Brock University.
Next year it will be held in Port
Elgin.
Mrs. Duncan Thorburn of Am -
berley was added to the Program
Committee. Mrs. Leonard McIn-
nes drew attention to the July
Chatelaine of an article on Start-
ing a Family Tree.
Theannual summer project
of recording cemeteries in the
County will continue this year.
Mrs. Wm. Arnold was appointed
to care for Huron Township -and
Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Leonard
McInnes will try to have Kinloss
Township completed. Members
were shocked to hear that a cem-
etety•onConcession 2, Bruce
Township had been levelled ,`
stones' buried and' dwellings built
on the site. This is .contrary to
law and a desecration, to our pion-
eers. •

•gift of a wall plaque to. the Fair-
mont'school for the annual Public
'Speaking winners.
At. the Talerit Day program,
June 20th, the pupils honoured
her with a beautiful array of two
dozen red roses. The Home and
School gave her a silver coffee
spoon with the Fairrnonr crest on
'it. To complete the occasion,
her picture was hung on the wall
-beside .the pictures of the school's'
two former principals, Mr. F.
Steadman and Mr. R. Peasley.
