McCharles, • Just a few short weeks now re- main until the now well known Craft Festival takes place. Aug- ust 3 and 4 in Lucknow will be two good days to be'there. With well over 100 crafters, and re- quests still:coming for space, it is sure to "be the best Festival ' • yet. • This year the Crafters will have better display area as, on the whole, all have bought more space and also several will be set up outside the arena. There will be something for everyone. The variety is trem- endous. The committee has, spent many hours promoting the Festival and TV shows., and the • local papers have been a tremen- dous.medium through which the Festival has become well known. Posters' are now• in every vil- lage and town in Bruce and Hur- on Counties. Everyone one talks to mentions the Festival and the interestin corning. Brochures have been passed. out in dozens. of areas and almost 7000 of these are out advertising the big event. There are stili two openings for any group wanting to sell bak- ing , preserves. If you want to make some money for your group; why not contact one of the com- mittee.. The grade 8 students were' intro• duced by Mrs. Mary Fisher and Mrs. Mabel Wheeler. A clarinet solo by David Ackert was followed by several skits. Field. day trophieswere present- ed to the following athletes,, junior girls, Beverley Bell; inter- mediate, Karen Doelman; senior, Martha Graham;' junior boys, Paul Finlay; intermediate, Fred Howald; senior Tom Visser. - The band proficiency trophy was presented by Gordon Cayley to David Ackert. The valedictory address was delivered by Mary Eadie. General proficiency awards were presented to Mary Eadie and David Ackert.. Two vocal numbers by. grade 8 were followed by a thank you to -grade 7 mothers for their assist- :ance that evening, which was expressed by Martha Graham. God Save the Queen, accom- panied by Ken DeBoer, ended the evening which .was followed by a social time and lunch.
