names and addresses of these
people and send these lists to Stew
art Needham, the committee for
the Medical Centre will'see that
literature explaining the proposed
centre will be forwarded. The
Ripley -Huron area still means
"home" to many and no doubt
they will be willing to help in
•whatever way they,can.

John Gamble also states that •
54 girls, ages 10 to 13, gathered
last Friday afternoon to start a
"House League" in girl's *softball.
It is proposed .that four teams will
be formed and games will be held
on Tuesday and Friday afternoons
at the playgrounds ,behind' the
Ripley -Huron Central Public
School at the west end of the •
village. Perhaps also some ,exhi-
bition games with teams from.
Other centres will be held. This
will get' "off the ground" once the
busy' haying season is over. Eight-
een years ago the Ripley Flyers
took the first W.O.A. A. _champ-
ionship in ladies softball in that •
historic game over in Wirigham
on October 23, 1945 against
Hanover. In .1945 they played
35 official games winning 30 in
the season and were in the ,ball
park back of the Ripley District
High. School at that time four
nights each week. So it, is very
satisfying to this writer to see a
return of interest.
• On Monday of this week garage

of a booklet entitled "The Bruce

projects.

Three other "things" were tak-
ing place on the same Monday
evening - a ball game in the
park nearby, a meeting of the
Ripley Huron Recreation „Commit-
tee next door in the Huron Town -
Ship Hall and a shower party for
Susan Farrell in the. Purple Grove
community centre. It does not
' seem that the area is by any
means dead.
Now we must stop writing a
swarm of bees is on the rampage
in a nearby town.
