By Marion McCharles
Ripley and area community
development groupmet Monday
.evening in the Anglican Church,
Ripley with a good attendance.
Giving reports= re Reg Moore
on the propo, d Me ical Centre.
Canvasser§. ha e be n busy calling
on residents in village and
township and report a good re-
sponse. This was necessary to
provide half of the funds to start
the centre, with the councils
of both areas, to supply the bal-
ance. Thrdugh the winter works
programme there would be'sub-
stantial grants on the project and
this has been applied for and the
necessary information provided.
The land site is being negotiated
for and will in all probability be
purchased soon..
Reporting on the housing for
Senior Citizens was Mrs. Oliver
McCharles who called on the
Reev-e of the Village, Clayton
Nicholson to givea report.
He stated that the questionn-
aires were to be returned to Tor-
onto at once and that a survey:
would follow and then the next
step would be taken by'
,the.Ontario Housing Corp. -in
providing the needed housing if
the people had proven the nec-
essity.
• Due to a separate meeting of
the Community Centre group, no
report was heard from them.,
There will, however be a
Doctor in Ripley who will be .
dispensing drugs and'a good pos-
siblity of a Dentist, and a Veter-
inary Surgeon if all indications
now in the process fall into line.
With Ripley's motto:, "It. Can Be•
Done" it will hopefully be
a reality within the next few
months, Committee members
request the support and co-opera-
tion of .everyone to complete
the projects as soon as possible.
