.Recently, while digging his gar'-
den
ar=den for planting potates, 87 -year-
old Dan Wylds made a most unus-
ual
nus=ual find. It was a silver like med-
al about thesize of a :dollar coin.
On the front side was engraved
several things. Prominent in
the design was a lily flower - six
petals, stamens and a three part
pistil. Numbers thought to 64
can be noted. On the reverse side
is a metal bar to-which.a ribbon
might have been attached. Al-
though apparently lost in the
ground for many, years, it shows nc
signs of tarnishingor rusting.
Dan, who spent the winter in Rip-
ley with his son and wife. Lloyd
and Jean Wylds, is back at his
home on the 12th of. Ashfield
and this. is where the medal was
found. He would be very inter-
ested to ,know its history.
