sold their Holyrood general store
to Mr. and Mrs. Morley Hobbs
of Ailsa Craig. Mr. and Mrs.
Percy had bought the business a
little over seven years previously
from George Colwell. For many
years the business was operated
by John and Susie Purvis.
The Men's Club of St. Peter's
Anglican Church, Lucknow,
held a meeting in .conjunction
with the Board of Management to
discuss a proposed Parish Hall.
40 YEARS AGO.
JUNE 1933
Sweeping in from the lake, a
gale attaining an estimated
velocity of from 50 to 60 Miles
an hour, swept this district fora
ten minute period and left in its
wake a trail of shattered trees,
with roofs lifted in some sections
and telephone and hydro services
disrupted b The hurricane was
followed by an electrical storm.
Roadways in the district were
blocked in many instances with
trees either uprooted or snapped
off at the trunk. The storm was
reported as the worst of this nat-
ure felt in this district in twenty
years.

now Calf Club was held May 24
at the farm of Glen Walden, •The
meeting was opened by Ken Mew-
hinneyour president. We had one
class of Holstein cows to judge .
and :some members had to give
reasons on .their, different plaCings..
We then discussed the lesson and
the. members answered their quiz:.

William Ross, a bride and groom
of but three weeks, was totally
destroyed by fire ottknown ori-
gin, which broke ou in the back
kitchen about 3 a.m.. :They were
able to remove most of their furn-
iture. Their farm was situated
just west of Lochalsh..

Lucknow Bowling Club the follow-
ing officers were elected: Presid-
ent, W. Horne; vice president,
A. P. Stewart; secretary -treasur-
er, Robert Brown; executive com-
mittee, the officers and S. Rob-
ertson and J. A. Glennie1,

tising the 15th Annual Greyhound
Excursion, Goderich to Detroit
and return. ,Tickets were $1.50
round .trip. The Moonlight Excur-
sion was. advertised ,for he prev-
ious night.

Phoebe and Steven are both mem-
bers of the Sir Frederick Banting
Secondary School Band in London,
and Steven is also a member of
the choir , who are on tour of
Scotland, Wales and.England.
• Joan and Guest are visiting rel-
atives in Dartford and Swanley
in Kent County, Southern Eng-
land.
