division was Roger Morrison of
R. R. 1 Lucknow who scored 145
points out of a possible 150. He
was tied in points with the winner
but was placed as runner-up. The

London. He was within a few

For Young Woman
MRS. LORNE ALTON
The community was deeply sad-
dened to learn of the sudden pas-
sing of Mrs. Lorne Alton of the
6th concession of West Wawanosh
Township, a"young wife and moth-
er. •Her death occurred on Wed-
nesday, May 30th at University of
Hospital, London.. She was 31.
Mrs. Alton was the. former
Elsie .Kathlene Smyth, daughter
of Ivir. and Mrs. Gordon Smyth;
(the former Hazel` .Lawlor) of West
Wawanosh, and where Kathlene
was born on January 5, 1942;
On November 26, 1960 at
Dungannon United Church, the
married Lorne Alton, also of West
Wawanosh and where they have
since resided on the 6th conces-
sion.
•Mrv. . Alton is survived by her
husband; one daughter Marsha
Kay, age eleven; her parents Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon 'Smy,th; two : .
brothers George and Gordon 7r.
both of West Wawanosh, and siX
sisters Mrs. Herb (Marie) Wilkins
of Ashfield , Mrs.' Clarke (Donna)
Zinn of Clinton, Mrs. Lorne

The funeral service .was held
at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Saturday, June 2nd.
Rev -Clarence McClenaghan of
Dungannon United Church, of
which the deceased was a mem-
ber, conducted the service.

MRS. MATTHEW GEMMELL
'Ellen Jane Morgan, widow of
Matthew Gemmell and daughter.
of the late. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Morgan of Ripley, passed away on
May 15th in her 84th year.
She had been a resident of the
Ripley ,area all her life. ' Her
health was not the bestfor the past
few, years and she spent several
weeks at Kincardine Hospital be-,
fore being transferred to. Brucelea
Haven, Walkerton a month ago.
Serious illness occurred and she
was admitted to. Bruce County
Hospital where.surgery was per-
formed and she failed to rally. /
Funeral services were. in Ripley
on May 17th at 3 o'clock with
Rev . • George Ball officiating.
Interment was in Ripley Cemetery.
Surviving. are .2 daughters Mar-
ian (McTavish). of Ripley, Elsie
(Shaw). of London; 2 sons Francis
of Ripley and Toronto and Gordon
of Dundas.. Mrs. Bob Knowles
of London and Mrs. George
Davis of Oakville are sisters.
Pallbearers were 5 grandsons,
Frank Gemmell of Brampton,. Bill
McTavish of Kincardine ; Bob
Gemmell of Dundas, Bob Cole of
Cambridge, John Young of Handl-
ton, also Ron Martindale of
Ripley.
