towels and many other articles.
Doris thanked all for their
beautiful gifts and kindness in
thinking of her. Relatives were
present from, Don Mills, Waterloo,
Huron Township, Amberley',
Ripley,, Guelph, . Mount. Forest,
Wingham, Lucknow. The groom -
to -be parents, Mr. and Mrs.
George Estery of Port Elgin
were also present.

McLeod and the Officers Confer-
ence prepared by Mrs. James
Kirkpatrick, which she attended,
were the main topics at the Rip-
ley Women's Institute meeting on
June 1st. In the absence of Mrs.

Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Geinmell gave
the report.
Mrs. Jack McLean, the ,President
asked for volunteers to attend the
work day at the museum as Ripley
is responsible for cleaning the
Log Cabin and planting new
plants. The workday•is June 7th
at 1 p. m. Mrs. Joe Scott, Mrs.
Francis Gemmell and Mrs. Jack
McLean are three that will attend,
Friday , August .10th is hostess
Day.
A Curators. Workshop for cura -
tors and their committees will be
held on June 21st at Lucknow.
All curators are urged to attend.
A. food forum will be held. on
June 26th, and27th ; the place to.
be announced later. At least
12 members are asked to attend.
Ten dollars was donated to the
Fair Board. Plans were' made
for Hospital tea and bake sale.
Mrs. Laek is convener. All
members were asked to'keep in
mind the exhibit, for the Fall
Fair "A Christmas Boutique"-.
Mrs. Needham, Mrs. Cornish,
Mrs. Gemmell and Mrs. McLean
served tea and a social time en-
joyed...

Jack. MacDonald: of 'Lucknow,
'serving with the troops overseas,
was taking in a show. Into a
vacant seat beside him slipped
another soldier. Later, when the
lights went on, he discovered the
chap at his elbow was Norman
Taylor, who before enlisting,
'lived scarcely more than a stone's
.throw from him in Lucknow.
• Warrant Officer Alex MacKen-
zie of Lucknow'was one of eight
members of the R. C. A. F. who •
received decorations from the
hands of His Majesty The King
at an investiture in Buckingham
Palace. Alex was awarded the
Distinguished Flying Medal. .

The Sentinel carried a story.
of "St. Helens Biggest Day In
History", when on May 24th,
Victoria Day, 3000 people gath-
eredin the village of St. Helens.
to witness theunveiling of the
Soldier's Memorial. .The monu-
ment had been erected by Mr.
John Joynt to the memory of
the soldiers from the township
who served in the Canadian
Army during the Great War and
which Mr. Joynt presented that .
day to the township. Inscribed
on the granite were eighty-five
names of Wawanosh boys and
men, seven of whom fell in
battle.
