Jane°Treleaven suggested that our executive try to go to Recog- nition Day in June. Wilma Clark read a poem about 3 missing people made of our •:fat and read an article called "The Thinking Woman's'. Diet". It statedthat all dieters should make sure they eat the right kinds of food. Each day's meals should provide the proper requirement of nutrition elements such as thiamine riboflavin, nia- cin;and ascorbic acid. The,five essential food groups are milk; fruit; vegetables; bread and cereals; meat, fish, eggs, poultry and cheese. The evening was concluded with exercise conducted by Marian na Porter. ' Zippy Trinettes The eighth meeting of the Zippy Trinettes was held Saturday May --12 at 1:15 in Trinity Church basement. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge led by the president Mary Anne Alton. The roll call was answered bythe members•. Donna. Hackett read the minutes of the .last meeting. Achievement Day plans were discussed., Joan Hackett will be commentator for our dress review. For the exhibit, which is Knacks for Necklines, each senior girl will make a neckline sample. The hand out notes for meeting' six were checked. Mrs. Don Hackett discussed knowing knits and fibres for knits as a review. Mrs. D. A: Hackett discussed dress reviews, and. evaluating our garments., also judging sewing techniques. Cheryl Hackett closed with "Consider your own figure when selecting your fabric". ese 61 I 4 Happy Handicrafters The seventh meeting of the St. Helens Happy Handi-Crafters was held in•the St. Helens. Hall on May 7. The meeting opened with the 4-1-1 Pledge. We had the minutts of the last meeting and the treasurer's report. Next meeting is Tuesday. May IS. A work meeting is to be held Wed- nesday, May 9. We discussed our Exhibit for Achievement Day "Necklines". We also discus. sed Hems and Hem finished. The rest of the 'meeting was spent with each girl working on her own garment. The meeting closed with the 4-H Creed. The, work meeting was held May 9. Several'girls attended/,. working on their own garments and samples with which they needed help. Nifty Knits The eighth meeting of the Dungannon I, 4-H club was held on May 11 at 7.00 p.m at Youngs. The meeting was opened with the. 4-H pledge. The roll call, "One technique we have learned as a result of working with knits", was answered. . ' Kathy Pentland read the sec- retary's report.. We are to have our books and garments complet- ed , and handed in to our leaders on May 28. We are to have a meeting with the other two clubs this week to make plans for our.
