The, ;meeting closed with pray- er and lunch was served. 0 THE RED CROSS IS PEOPLE LINE YOU HELPING PEOPLE LIKE YOU C.G.I.T, Group Visit Toronto The Lucknow C.G.I.T. enjoyed a trip to Toronto on Saturday, April . 28. The' girls and' leaders g .. travelled on two mini buses driv- en riv-en by Joe Burbine and Brian Wylds. After leaving Lucknow at 7 a.m. everyone ,spent a good share of the morning shopping at York - dale Shopping Mall. , Lunch was eaten on the bus as they travelled to the corner of Bloor Street ,and University Aven- ue. Here the girls toured the' Royal Ontario Museum, saw 'a show at the McLaughlin Planetar- ium and looked at the many shops in the Colonnade. At four o'clock they arrived at the Toronto -Dominion Centre where, after an elevator ride up fifty-four floors, they viewed the city of Toronto in all directions from the Observation Gallery. The group had supper at a restaurant and then enjoyedthe movie "Sounder". A,tired group arrived back home at midnight after a big day in the city. lucknow Unit .1 Mrs. ,grace Campbell was host- ess for the May meeting of. Unit 1' U.C. W. with Mrs. E. W. Rice presiding and opening with a verse and hymn. The theme was. "The Christian Home" and: Mrs. James Mathers read an opening quotation and hymn. The scripture reading. was from John 15 , followed by ' meditation and closing prayer. The last chapter in the study • book, ''Salute to Foreign Mission- ary" was taken by Mrs. Mathers, telling of a girl who gave up her good job to work with undesir- able people, drunken and delinquent and orphans. The home experiences will put our young poeple in good stead when they go out in the world. Our actions.speak louder than words , so parents must be very careful to make the home a happy loving. one. . . For .stewardship Mrs. Al Irwin read "God needs our ser- vice to save the world". Mrs. Clarence Irwin for Citizenship read "Mini Houses" and Mrs. Grace Campbell reported for Christian Education. Mrs. Ewart Taylor gave a' good. financial report. This part of the meeting was closed with at, hynnn and prayer by Mrs. Vernon Hunter and courtesy remarks by Mrs. Rice. An auction sale, with Mrs. Clarence Irwin as auctioneer was enjoyed , and lunch was served by. Mrs. Mathes and Mrs. Shiells,, committee for the,meeting. Injuries Treated At Hospital.. Donald Miltenburg, R. R. 7 Lucknow,.caught•his left hand in a lawn mower at his home May 2 and lacerated fingers of his left hand. Marjorie Eisenhofer, age 6, 32 Victoria Street , Wingham was admitted to hospital May 3 via ambulance after being struck by a car at the corner of Josephine and John Street. She received abra- sions to her lower back, pelvis, and both legs, lacerated chin. •Her condition is satisfactory. Town Police Chief Miller and Zimmer investigated. Murray Hickey. age 12, R. R. 3 Wingham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Hickey, was admitted to hospital with lacerated right ear and contusions to his face after a pony .kicked him. • Orville Lamont, R. R. 1 .Form - Mrs. Colin Campbell Speaks On India WHITECHURCH NEWS Mrs. Colin Campbell of Wing - ham was special speaker at the Spring Thankoffering meeting of Whitechurch U.C. W. Tuesday evening, May 1st when guests 4/ere present from Bluevale,' ' Calvin -Brick and : Lucknow U. C . W. groups and Chalmers Presby- terian V. resby-terian'W. M.S. The pictures of India were from Agra, New Delhi and part of Kashmir, where Mrs. Camp- bell and her husbandhad spent some time. The pictures were very clear and Mrs. Campbell's commentary was most instruct- ive nstruct-ive and enjoyable. The Study Bood used by U.C. W. groups was on India and the pictures' and commentary joined up the in- formation previously learned. At the beginning Mrs. Wardrop led in hymn singing. Mrs. Cliff- ord Laidlaw and Mrs. George Thompson assisted Mrs. Milian "Moore with the worship service. • Mrs. De Koeijer and Mrs. Ward- rop sang The Garden of Prayer. Mrs. Betty Flannigan thanked the speaker and on'behakf of the group she was presented 'with a gift by Mrs. Lorne Durnin. Mr. • Karl De Koeijer gave the .closing. benediction. All then retired to the Sunday school room where refreshments , were - served and friendships were renewed. osa , fractured his left leg when ,he slipped getting of a tractor. Barry Haugh, age 9, R. R. 1 Wingham', .received painful .injur- ies to his face when he' fell against a barbed wire fence on his home farm. Brenda Bushell, Lucknow, was admitted to hospital May 5 with head injuries received when the ten speed bicycle she was riding struck loose gravel in Lucknow. Marvin Gingrich, age 11, R. R. 4 Wingham, while playing base-, ball, fell and fractured his left collar bone. Mrs. Larry (Myrtle) Badley, R. R. 2, Blyth, was admitted to hospital with right foot injuries when she caught her foot in the hydraulic of the tractor.' Injuries were painful but the patient is now in satisfactory condition.
