International. • Mt.- Lorne 'Sparks introduced Rev.. John T.. McHardy, director of O.M.S.• who conducted the service. Miss Hayes and Miss Schneider contributed organ and piano duets. Ladies from South • Kinloss Choir sang two, theme r songs for which Mrs. Sparks had written both,words ;and music. Rev. Nathan Krampitz, on fur- lough from mission work near Lucknow, India showed slides and •told of the work -there. Rev. John McHardy and Miss Hayes sang a duet and Miss•Hayes told :of her work with World . •Intercessors. Also taking part in the service were Rev, Glenn Noble and Rev. Robt. Clyde of Bervie.' Coffee was served and many had an opportunity to visit with the speaker. Misses Connie MacKenzie and Muriel Le Breton of Toronto spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank MacKenzi- University students now home are Pat .Sparks , Betty Colwell and Rod MacKenzie from Western University and Heather MacKen zie from Mac Master University. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Colwell aie home from the West for a short vacation: • Band members had an 'interest- ing •all -day, Ban Clinic at Luck - now Central School on Saturday. Mr..and Mrs. Murray Tuck and Scott of Oakville visited Sunday. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Keith. Mr. and, Mrs. Donald. Macln- tye met Mary Maclntyre at Mal ton on Wednesday night when she returned • from her trip to Africa. Rev. John McHardy, Rev. Nath- an ath-an Krampitz, Miss Valeene Hay- es and Miss Sharon Schneider were guests. at the .home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dickie on Sunday. Denver Dickie had business trips for Dominion,Road Mchg. Co. to Montreal,. Chicago and Milwaukee last week and.. is spend- ing this week in Edmonton. South Kinloss WMS The May meeting of South Kin- loss W.M.S. was held at the home of Mrs, Herb Buckton, with an attendance, of 21. The Presid- ent, Mrs. Bruce.Hamilton opened the meeting with the reading of a verse. The hymn "Breathe on me Breath of God" was sung and the Lord's Prayer repeated. An excellent report of the Syn- odical held in Wingham was given by Mrs: Evan Keith. She reported the largest Synodical ever held - 286 ladies registered. Next year it is to be held: in Chesley. The Bible Study followed led by Mrs. Lorne Sparks - John 13, with ques- tions and answer period. Prayers were by Mrs. Gib Hamilton, Mrs, Douglas Graham, Mrs. Philip Steer and Mrs. Lorne. Sparks. The hyrnn, "We plough the fields, and scatter", was sung. The ,offertory prayei was given by Mrs. Leonard Macinnes. The roll call was answered by an Indian food. Mrs. Douglas Graham gave a synopsis of the Glad Tidings. Members were: reminded of the Presbyterial to be held at Molesworth. May 28th, afternoon and evening meetings, Mrs. Lorne Sparks tobe the dele- gate with alternate' Mrs. Philip Steer. Ladies were reminded of ladies weekend at Camp Kintail June 15th -17th, also Camp clean-up., date June 4th, 10 a.m. The Study of India continued with Mrs. Harold Austin telling Of India Agriculture and Food., dress and music - also'a quizz: omindia. The Courtesy remarks were by Mrs. Austin,. the hymn, "Zion's King shall reign victor - ious." , and prayer by Mrs.. Wm.. Maclntyre closed the meeting. The directors, Mrs. Lorne Sparks and Mrs. Harold Austin , served lunch. Lucknow Unit 2 Unit 2 of Lucknow United , Church Women met at the home. of Mrs. Raynard• Ackert on May first. Mrs.' Eldon Henderson opened the meeting with a poem "Live_ To Make A Life". Hymn 15 was sung followed by prayer. Twenty three members and one visitor answered the roll call with a verse about mother. The General Meeting will be on May twenty second with Mrs. Nicholl's in charge. The ladies, were asked to have the clothing for the bale in the church by the first of June. Miss Elizabeth Robinson gave a report on the quilt that was sold. The program began with the singing of hyrhn 109. Mrs.' Lorne Eadie had a reading "Gran- ny Really Works". The devo- tional was taken by Mrs. Charles MacDonald. The study on India was contin- ued with Mrs. Bert Alton speak- ing on Cultures of India. Miss Helen Thompson sang a lovely solo. Mrs. Eadie had another reading "Halo Fits Mothers Glas- ses" and Mrs, Peter Cook a read- ing "Income Tax". The meet- ing closed with the benediction. A Hobby Sale was held with Mrs, Bert Alton and Mrs, Clarence Greer as auctioneers and was followed by lunch. O Units 4 & 5 Uni 4 and 5 had an enjoyable joint meeting in. the Church par- lour on Tuesday,. May 1. Mrs. Ernest Ackert Jr. welcomed both groups and read "The Meanest . Mother in the World". The units divided into their -two groups for the business. May 22 is the Gen- eral Meeting and the Lucknow U. C. W. are., invited to a Bridal Tea by the Wingham U.C. W. on May 30. Mrs. Robt. Nicholls opened the Devotional with "Come My Broth- ers". Mrs. Brock Cleland read scripture interspersed with the singing of several songs led by Mrs. Nicholls. Several of the. ladies participated in reading "A Man's Prayer" and finishedby repeating a prayer in unison and all singing the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Stuart -Collyer read "God and My Neighbour" followed by singing by the group. Mrs. Bill'Graham and Miss Joanne Thompson favoured us with two piano duets.. . Mrs. Allan Johnson was in charge of the programme "The World of Women and Welcome to it". She read several facts about our rights as women down through the ages,in the form of a rally. Mrs. George Jardine modelled a confederation gown; Mrs. Cliff Crawford a turn of the century gown; and Mrs. Alex Andrew was today's modern lady. Mrs. Allan Johnson sang a'lov-• ely solo. There were several ladies dressed as flappers singing a couple of songs. Lunch was served by the com- mittee in charge. Lucknow Unit 3 Mrs..Glen Walden was hostess. for Unit 3 of Lucknow U.C. W. which mete in the church parlor. May 1, and due to the absence of Mr?. Kirkland, she presided for the meeting. Mrs. Pharis blathers accompanied at the piano for the hymns. Mrs.. Walden read a poem, Women Build Homes. Hymn. .15 was sung, followedby repeating the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Ken Murdie had charge of devotions, reading from Luke 1. dor a meditation she chose a woman of the Bible, Elizabeth, mother of John, giving an outline of her life and -character. Prayer followed. Thirteen members answered the roll call by naming a woman of the Bible. Mrs. Lawrence Mc Leod gave the treasurer's report. A Hobby Sale will be held at the June .meeting, and for the roll call, members are asked to bring their earliest baby picture. An invitation was received from Wingham U.C.
