Th+epresident Mrs. Bill Rintoul gave the call to worship, a poem Guidance.' • The hymn Beneath the Cross •was' sung and Mrs. Rintoul extend• ed a warm welcome to those in attendance... The scripture was read by Mrs. Mary Coulter followed by prayer by girs. Gordon Rintoul. • Mrs. Bill Evans 'gave an, Easter poem concerning early spring flowers and christians... Mrs. Victor Wybenga read a poem What is Spring? It is the way • you feel in-watching the growth of nature and' baby creatures ad- vancing ingrowth. It 'is when you dream of.to-morrow and-fleeting moments' of time. !vim. Victor Emerson gave the topic Easter and Spring. The dawn of the first Easter Day was preceded with a furious storm. It was out of this gloom - ,and threat of Good friday that there sprang up the glbry of Easter Day. Spring is the. mason .of hope, and'really joins tip with Easter. The new green shoots are symbolic of Easter; truth that , there is no death - that death is swallowed up in victory. Good Friday with its suffering and shame and death was not the last chapter in the story of Jesus. On Easter dayJie was raised' from the dead never to die again.- It was so wonderful not even the disciples believed their eyes when they saw him. The miracle changed -the disciples into•bold Dungannon UCW The April meeting of•Duligan- non United Church Women was held in the church basement on Tuesday, April 17 at 8.30 p.m. The meeting was convened by the Literature and Program 'Com- mittee.- The meeting opened with a poem by Mrs. Nelson Pear- son, followed by a hymn with Rev. Clarence IvIcClenaghan at the piano. Scripture portions were read by Mrs. Kalmer Dawion and Mrs. Fred Young. The meditation, "God is not Dead" was given by Mrs. N. Pearson. A study on "Women of the Bible" proved int- eresting and profitable. Mrs. Graham Mc/•,lee gave two Easter readings, "The 'Legend of ', the Robin" and "l'he Easter Dog- wood Legend". The roll call was answered with an. Easter verse by , 17 ladies. An invitation was read from Auburn to their Easter Thankoffering service. Rev. C, McClenaghan thanked . the ladies for the supper served to die communicant class ,session and parents of children joining. Plans .were made for the Bake sale, apron booth and tea tables' on May 12th. This will also include crafts by C.G.1.T. and Explorer Groups. • , Mrs. C. McClenaghan gave a good report on the one day semin- ir she had attended in London. At the close of the meeting a dainty, lunch was served by Mrs. Nelson Pearson and Mrs. Ross Eedy and a social time enjoyed. courageous crusaders. Today Easter brings a reassurance of faith in God. She closed with a poem My Sa viour and led in prayer. Mrs. Gordon Rintoul read- a poem "Hands", telling of Christ's hands nailed-to the Cross. Mrs. Earl Caslick and. Mrs. Robert Ross read from the Presby- terian Record - "Through Agony to Victory", written by Mary Patterson Farmery, who had last fall preached one Sunday at Chalmer's church and is this spring graduating from Knox College having been a student for , 3 years. Bruce Presbytery Meet At Arthur Huron Visiting The 'Bruce Presbytery of the United Church of. Canada met in Arthur United Church, April 16th, with Rev. George Wright of Mount Forest in the chair. New dele- gates were introduced, also Rev. .StOckton welcomed and introdu- ced Rev. Vern'Hudson from Baz- ii. They were classmates, at Ontario Agriculture College - and Emmanuel College. Rev, Hudson informed the gathering that more lay people than minist- ers attend the Presbytery Meet ings in. Brazil. Ministers in Br'azi- it haveanywhere from five to twenty congregations to minister to and in the remote areas, only transportation is on horse back. Mr. Reid, from Arthur United Church, welcomed everyone and informed them, this was the first time Bruce Presbytery had met in the Arthur Church. Arthtir former- ly was in. Guelph Presbytery and just hecame a part of Bruce Pret- bytery July 1st, 1969. The Worship was led by Rev. George Wright, Rev. Stock- ton delivered the Cominunien Sermon. Rev. Arnold Proud of Teeswater assisted Rev. G. Wright and Rev. Stockton and four eld- ers of the Arthni Church to dis- tribute the COmniunion elements to the assembled people. A brief interesting report was given by Rev. John Hill, Pine River, on "The . Study Seminar to the, Middle East". This, tour was encouraging by the United Church of Canada. Rev. Hill has a num-. ber of slides and is prepared to . share the highlights of this tour' with any church groups who are interested. / Paul Davis and Wayne. Wright will be the student ministers at. Sauble Beach Churches this summer. The roll call was answered by 12 giving a, verse with Resurrec- tion. The offering was dedicated by Mrs. Mary'Coulter. Mrs. Bill Rintoul and Mrs. Johnston Conn told of the Synodical. The next is .to be held in Chesley. the Presbyterial is on May. 28 at Mol- esworth. The next meeting of White- church W.M.S. will be held on the 3rd Wednesday instead of Thursday. An invitation was received from the Whitechurch U.C.
