On Wednesday evening, April
11, Ripley-Huron Central School.
held their Open House. At 7.00
classes were open for parents
and interested friends to look at.
Each room had projects and
school work on display. Ten
rooms were open all evening. •
Slides which Mr. Stanley had .
taken at the Fall Fair were going
in the Gymnasium steadily. At
8.30 all the people gathered in
the Gym for a "Reach for the
Top Contest".„ This contest was
between two teams from the
Grade 8 classes. The first team
consisted of Terry Tusz, Janice
Farrell, Gary Thorneycroft, and
Danny Boyd. The Members of
the second •team were Chris Mc -
Garvey , Connie Irwin, Kevin
Ferguson, and Eric Ingard. The
quiz master for the contest was
Mr. T. Kummer and the judge
was Mrs. C. MacKenzie. The
scorekeeper for team I was Julie
Johnston and for team 2 was.

Mrs. Victor (Evelyn): Johnston,
Waterloo, fell on some steps at •
Amberley Beach and .fractured
her right wrist.

7 Lucknow , fell to the cement
floor in the Lucknow arena and
fractured her left arm:*
Donald Peterson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. James Peterson of Luck-
now., received ''a laceration to his
• face while playing hockey.

Lucknow, lost control of a car
and went into a ditch apprOxir9-
ately 2 1/2 miles north of Luck-
now, on the Holyrood road. He
was admitted to hospital with
a compound fracture of his right
thUmb.
Stephen Caesar, age 18,• Dun-
gannon, was riding a motorcycle
north 4;)f Dungannon when he was
in collision with a second motor-
cycle. He received abrasions
and contusions to left hip.. The
accident was investigated by
Goderich O.P.P.
Kenneth Farrish, R.. R. '3 Luck-
now, received: facial lacerations
and abrasions in a .fall.
Miss Catherine Foran, age 19,
R. R. 2 Auburn, was admitted
to hospital after falling off a .
horse 'she was riding near Auburn.
She received head and back in-.
juries.
Michael/ Thompscq , age 4,
Wingham, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald Thompson, was bitten on
the face by a dog at the home of
William Henry, Wingham. The
Child received a small superfic -
*al laceration below 'the left eye.
Chief Rolice Miller investigated.
Joanne Willie, age .7, Tees-
water , daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
David Willie, fell on a piece of
steel at her home and received
a lacerated right knee.
Bradley Coulter , age 15, Wing-
ham ; was admitted 'to hospital
with a fractured right wrist re-
ceived 'while riding a motor-
cycle across a field. He struck
a tree and fell off the machine.

Died At Sarnia
MRS. WILLIAM STEELE
Mrs. William Steele of Ripley
passed away in St. Joseph's Hos -
pital, Sarnia on April 11.
Mrs. Steele, the former Ada
Jane Walden, was born on the
second concession of Huron Town-,
ship June 27, 1883. daughter of
the late Elizabeth Green ,and Dav-
id Walden. .
William Steele, to .whom she
wa.s married in 1912, predeceased
her in 1947. They resided on the
second concession of Huron Town-
ship until 1946 when they moved
to Ripley.
Mrs. Steele took an active
interest in Community life and
was a member of Olivet, Pine
River and Ripley United' Churches.
where she taught Sunday School,
sang in• the choir and was active
in the Wonian's. Organizations
for many, years. She was a
charter member of Reids Corners
Women's Institute , a member of
Ripley,Horticultural Society and •
Librarian of the Ripley Library
for several years.
She was predeceased 'by four
brothers, Wesley, David John,
Albert (Rev. A . V.) and Walter
Walden and two sisters Mary and
Ann Jane Walden.
Surviving are three sons and
two daughters, Wilfred of Huron.

Bruce of Sarnia ,' Mrs. G. H.
ACkerman (Minnie) of Hayward,
California and Mrs.. D. R. Brown
(Mary) of Sarnia , 10, grandchild-
Iren and 4 great , grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister Mrs.
J. Thue (Bertha) of Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan' and one brother
Wilbert "G. Walden Of Richmond,
B. C
Funeral services were held at .
the MacLennan-McCreath Funeral
Home, Ripley, Saturday, April
'14 with Rev. George Ball officiat-
ing. Interment was in Ripley
Cemetery.
