Ripley's back streets. • * * • * The weekly meeting of the Rip- ley Tops Club was held on Mon- day night in the lkipley Huron ' ,Central School. Twenty-eight members answered the roll call. The minutes were read and adopted by the leader Noreen MacCharles. Gloria Rutledge was in charge of the recreation which developed into a fun ;light for the whole club.. Gloria, had a very active sing song to start the evening program. 'Bracelets and charms were given to members as, followS: for six weeks without gain - re- frigerator •charms to Joyce Farrell, Marie Coiling, Helen • McCreath, Audrey MacDonald, Marjorie , MacDonald, Anna MacTavish, Gladys Nicholson; Queen of the Month received a lgrown charm - Janice,Reeves, Ruthe Patterson, Noreen MacCharles, Patti Mac- Donald , Florence Kirkpatrick. Helen McCreath aind Gladys Nicholson received a charm for perfect attendance; Audrey Mac- Donald, Judy Coiling and Janice Reeves received bracelets for 20 pounds lost as their goal. The club decided to have a planned fun night once 'a month and pres- ent bracelets and charms to members achieving certain goals. An Easter parade was held with each member around in their Easter bonneis made from kitch- en utensils.. Mabel Barnard and Karen Martin were the win- ners. Lunch was served by the social committee to close the' meeting. The orchestra was the Dimensions. Committee 'in charge .of arrange-- ments were Hugh Mason, Morley. Scott and Jack Farrell. • • • • • Returned From Australian Trip ZION NEWS • Mrs. Frances Wilkins and her companion Mrs'.'Isobel Edge- wOrth , London, who spent .three weeks in Florida in January, then' travelled by boat through Panama Canal to Vancouver then to AtA- tralia, returned home the end of March. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jerome spent the-week end in Lancaster with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jer- ome and attendee a wedding. Mrs. John Hunter, Mrs. Lorne Cooke and Janice spent Tuesday with their mother, Mrs. Frank Hamilton at Masonvilla Nursing Home, London and also visited their father in Wingham. Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Raynard, Diane, Debbie and Donna spent Sunday afternoon at the' home of Mr.. and Mrs. Elmer. Wall, Tees- water. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Spilsbnry, Douglas and Paul,. Stan Ward of Clarkson, Ontario visited with their aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon, Kirkland over the week end, LANGSIDE CARD PARTY 'The regular card party was held at the Langside community centre. There were three tables of euchre in play and one Apf rummy. Fred de Boer received high.ladies prize , and George Young high men's. Nancy de Boer received low ladies and Keith. Bregman low men's. The last party of the season will, be held this Friday evening. Sunday school started at the Langside Presbyterian Church. The C.O.C. meeting announced for next Sunday at Langsixte has been cancelled due to special Palm Sunday services. Lloyd Murdock will be the guest minister'. Mrs. Jim Young entertained., neighbours at a Tupperware Party Thursday evening. Mrs. Joyce Broome of Luclmow was the dernonstiator. LANGSIDE W. M. S. . The firsi' W.M.S. meeting of the year of the Langside Auxiliary was held at the home of Mrs.' George Young with four ladies present. The' meeting opened with, the call to worship: 0, give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name ; make known his deeds among the people. The W. M.S. purpose was re- peated. Mrs. Jim Young intrd- duced the topic 'India'. Kim's Game was• played and quiz on. India was given. A dialogue about family planning was giVeti by Mrs. Young and Mrs. Bregrnan. Tops Cipb • Exercises were done while Members were getting Weighed in at the regular Tops. meeting, •April 4. Fourteen members weighed in with a total loss, of 18 lbs. The new executive took over their new duties and the meeting was opened with the Tops Pledge `followed by a sing song. Our new members Betty Frayne • was crowned queen of the week . and Audrey MacDonald won the draw. Mayme• Wilkins gave out !charts for each member to write down "everything" she eats. each day. This will give us an idea 'just how many calories 'we are,' eating. ,Each merriber is to bring one fruit for the fruit basket next iweek to be given to the queen. ..language.
