HISTORY
Mrs. Barbara Burgess' History
521 class faced the walls of the
Walkerton County Court on
March 15, not with the fear of
realizing a wrong, but with int-
erest and without doubt eager-
ness. Since a segment of the
year's study involves justice, the
students had the privilege of actu-
ally seeing a court in action.
and stubborn determination. Such
was the nature of the battle wit-
nessed in the RDHS gym on March
14. The cause was due to, the •
desire for fame and, glory and the
golden ball, the treasured trophy
of the . OHS table tennis. classic,.
Adversaries were the mixed ,
teams of Debbie Tranter and.
Greg:Liddle, and Joan Courtney
and Michael Smith. Debbie and
Greg edged their opponents ,21-18
for 'a hard-fought Victory-, but.
Joan and Michael came back in
the second ganie "to establish their
ability by winning.21-12 . With
one victory each, the champion-
ship could have gone either way
and it proved to be a fight to the
finish to win the second out of
three matches. The final game
resulted in a score Of 21-19 and
after the dust had cleared, it
was apparent that Joan Courtney •
and Michael Smith had taken the
Golden Ball for 1973,Golden
table tennis balls will be.present-
ed to the champions in a special
ceremony. '
