LETTER. TO THE EDITOR
Seek Aid Of

Lucknow Ontario
March 16 , 1973.
To the Editor,
The Sentinel,
Lucknow ,Ontario.
Dear Don,'
This week I received a boX of
basic canvasser kits. and•Other
campaign aids from the Walkerton
unit of the Canadian Cancer Soc-
iety, so I decided I would write to
you again; and see if betVgeen us
we could organize a local can7
vass for the Cancer Society. No
doubt you remember the tremen-
dous support Lucknow and District
gave the cancer drive last year.
Donations at campaign time
were over $1300.00.
April has been set aside again
as the month to have our door-to-
door canvass and to educate the
public regarding "cancer facts for
'73". We can't have a. campaign
without volunteers. Last year
many willing workers came
forward and offered their, services
If we conld 'have the 'same re-
sponse this year , we can proudly
say that we're doing our part to
aid in cancer research and serv-
ice to patients. Men as well as
women are needed tb canvass.
Did you know that in some towns,
it's the men who' Min the whole •
campaign? Let's work
together to beat cancer, because
it can be beaten.
I would like tohave volunteers
call at my home to pick up can-.

casser kits,. on March 28, after-
..noon br.evening. 'If that day is
not suitable, but someone would
like to canvass, I can make
arrangements by telephone; my
number is 528-2704.
The Sentinel has been
very helpful in the past, Don,•and

The HonOrable Allan Grossman,.
Minister of4evenne, assured
Bruce County that the.
reassessment would be undertak-
en and set out- a timetable which
is being closely adhered to. The
County was also assured thafre-
assessment at, Market Value would
'not in any way affect Education
Grants to the local Board of
Education.
If the Bruce County Board of
EducatiOn feel that this equaliz-
ing of ,assessment and. the tax
burden will be to their detriment,
perhaps the provincial Department
of Education should be consulted.
In this connection , Bruce COnrity
Council is willing to assist in any
way.
