pita' in London is Frank Zipfel.
Frank spent several weeks in St.
,Joseph's where he underwent knee
surgery. During his absence his
mechanic Wayne Nixon looked
after the garage.

Mrs. Ross Martyn. Adeline,
along with Mrs. Archie MacDon-
ald. spent some time this winter
in Florida.

The Ripley Local History Group
met in the Ripley. Huron Legion
Hall on. Friday, March 9 with 50
members present. R011 call was
an Irish joke. The hall was dec-
orated for St. Patrick's Day by ,
Mrs.,Orah Crawford. Cards were
enjoyed for an hour. The pro-,
gram committee was Mrs, Donnie
MacDonald , Mrs. Wm. Courtney,
Mrs, Bert Irwin and Mrs. Frank
Fair. It wa;decided to complete
the year with a pot luck dinner.
A. trip to Kitchener was. planned
for May.
Lunch was served by the com-
mittee , Mrs. Ralph Himter, Mrs.
Lot Culbert and Mrs. Hazel Mac-
Donald.

On Thursday February 22, the
seventeenth annual Traffic and
Transportation Conference was
held 'in the Canadian Room at the
Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
This was the'same time as dele-
gates from here were attending

the annual convention of Agricni
tural Societies in the King Ed-
ward in Toronto. Congratulations
go' to a local girl of some years •
ago, Miss. Doris E. Wylds, former-
ly of the Ashfield area, daughter
Of Dan Wylds and% sister of
Lloyd of Ripley and Warren of.
Ashfield. Doris was the chairman
of the afternoon session which
was scheduled to last two hours.
For years Doris has been, traffic
manager of'Emery Industries
(Canada) in Toronto.

Last Friday Mr. and Mrs. Clar-
ence Pollock, Barry, Connie
ands Keith left on ''a two week
motor tour to Florida. Earlier
in the day. 'Lois went to Brantford
to pick up Barry and bring him
back to Ripley.

The wedding 'of Marjorie Coi-
ling and, Kenny Wylds took place
Friday evening in. Ripley follow-
ed by a reception dance in the.
Ripley ,District High School audi-
torium.. It was a rather pretty
sight to see the line of car' lights
passing east along Malcolm
Street as the party made a car
tour of,the village after thewed-
ding. Everyone reports a very
nice reception dance with a good
crowd present.' Marjorie. is' the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan .
Colling, just east of Ripley
and Kenny is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. 'Warren Wylds of the twelfth
concession of Ashfield.

The funeral service for_Mrs.
Mary Hannah •Martyn., wife of the
late Rory:Martyn of Ripley, was
held last Thursday afteineon at
2 p.m. in Knox Presbyterian
Church in Ripley with Rev. Ken-
neth J. Rooney in charge. It
`was well attended as a tribute to •
a fine womarrof the district. It
Was followed by interment in the
• Ripley Cethetery. The' former
Mary Hannah MacKenzie of the '

ship she passed away on' Tuesday,
March 6, in Kincardine \hospital"
. in her 86th year Up to Thursday

She is,survived by her ,one re-
paining brother Henry MacKen-
zie of the 12th concession of Ash-
field at whose home she resided
during the past few years, two
step daughters Miss Amelia

erine (Martyn) Alton of Walkertoni
four stepsons Eugene Martyn of
Kincardine Lovell,. David and
Allan Martyn all of Toronto, also
several nephews and nieces, and
many other relatives. She was
predeceased by one sister Mrs...
Dan (Fannie) MacLean of Loch-
' OA in 1966 and a brother, Neil
Mackenzie of Lochalsh in the
1940's; in April 1972 by her
brother Roy MacKenzie of Ripley
