Damage was extensive to the
automobile of William Porteous •
of Lucknow in a car fire late Wed- •
nesday afternoon of last week.
Mr Porteous was proceeding
north on Albert Street in the vil-
lage and in turning east onto.
Hamilton Street , just west of the
residence of Mac Conley, his'
automobile struck a mound of
earth and became mired in the
soft ground.
In, attempting to drive the car
out of the soft ground , it took
fire. Lucknow Fire Department
was called to the scene.
The fire had gained a consider-
able headway and the car was bad,

'At the annual meeting of the
congregation, early this year., the
congregation voted to.close the
church. and amalgamate with
Lucknow. Presbyterian Church.
Rev. Glenn Noble is the minis-
ter of the three point charge of
Lucknow% South Kinloss and Dun-
gannon.
At the time of the decision to
close, the attendance at the Dun-
gannon church had dwindled to
about eight active families.
The wish of the congregation
was relayed to Presbytery and
Membership enables a firm to
give the community better and
broader service because of its
affiliation with responsible funeral
firms in all parts of the world.
The MacKenzie Funeral Home is
operred by Robert C. MacKenzie,
Rev,. Robert Armstrong of Wing-
ham, chairman of the pastoral
support committee of presbytery,'
along with Rev. John Bell of
Walkerton, met with the Congreg-
ation to discuss the matter.
The recommendation for clos-
ure and amalgamation with
Lucknow was presented to Bruce
Maitland Presbytery at a meeting
in Walkerton on Tuesday of ,this
week and approved.
A history of the congregation
has been prepared by Iva Carr of
Dungannon.
