Ripley Meeting
A meeting at St. Andrews
United Church in Ripley on Tues-
day evening of last week includ-
ed representatives from churches
in Ri,pley and Huron Township.
About 25 attended.. '

' Unit Ecumenical Project.
As a group, they discussed'
the changes in.. rural communit-
ies and what the future held. It
is planned to hold further meet-
ings in the future.

Ashfield W.M.S. World Day
of Prayer service was held at the
-home of the President, Mrs. Jim
West. Mrs. West opened the ser-
vice with the theme "Alert In
Our Time" followed by the hymn
"Father, Son and Spirit".

From ,Modern Man". Mrs. Dick
West and Miss Sadie Johnston
also took part in the service. .
Everyone sang "I'd Like To
Teach The. World To Sing".
The senior Explorer girls, Dar-
lene Parrish, Sandra Robb, anice
Collins, Linda Swan, Sharon
Howes and Tammy MacKinnon
participated with their junior ,
•World Day of Prayer service.
The senior service was conclud
ed with all singing ."Go Tell It
On The Mountain".
Roll call with a sentence Prayer
was answered by 19 ladies. Busi-
ness was then discussed. Plans are
getting underway in preparing a
cook book., Grace was sung
and lunch served.

The Day Of Prayer' Service was
held March 2nd at 2 p.m. at the
United Church. •
The introductory nAlS,ic Was
played by the church organist Mrs..
Garnet Farrier. The first leader
was Mrs. 'Milian Moore of the
United Church, conducting the
act of Adoration, Silent Worship..
The hymn Wake up My people
was read by the leader. In the
part Act of Contrition, Mrs.
George Thompson' wasthe scrip-
ture reader. Mrs. Donald Ross
gave a piano solo "How Great
Thou Art".
The second leader was Mrs.
Herman de Bruyn of the Catholic
Church conducting the Act of •
Intercession and•singing of hymn
Rise up Omen Of God.
The third leader -was Mrs.
Wallace Conn of the
Presbyterian Church conducting
Silent Reflection and Express it. •
The scripture reader was Mrs.
Victor Emerson.
The guest speaker was Mrs.
Victor Wybenga introduced by ,
Mrs. Wallace .Corm. She spoke
on the theme "Alert in our time".
To be alert does not mean to
concentrate upon the symptoms of
human misery and pain but to be
alert to what. the cause of it is.
God has spoken to us, in His Word,
which tells us why there is hatred
among people suffering, loneli-
ness and anxiety. The Bible •
tells us Jesus Christ is the only
way to peace and quietness. Alert
in-our time means to recognize
the signs of the time. If you
have ears,, then listen to what the
spirit says to the 'Churches.. Those
leading in prayer were Mrs.
George Thompson, Mrs. Dawson
Craig71sars. Albert Coultes and
Mrs. Wesley Tiffin. °
In the Tim*f Dedication the
readers were Mrs. Fred Tiffin,
Mrs. Lorne Durnin and Mrs. Bill
Rintoul. The offering was receiv-
ed by Mrs. Albert 'Coultes and ),
Mrs: Dawson Craig and dedicated.
The benediction closed the meet-
ing,. Mrs. Don RoSs was appointed
Key Woman.

World Day Of Prayer service
was held March 2 at the Christian
Reformed hurch ; Lucknow.'The
theme for this year Was "Alert
in our time" with eight churches
from Lucknow arid area particip-s
ating and about 120 in attend-
ance. „

took part in the service. , Mrs.

Mrs. de Boer was the leader
and opened with the reading: of a
short poem entitled a Woman's
Prayer. A solo ,was rendered by
Md. Clair Johnstone, Bless This
House: Mrs. Pritchard was at the
Organ.
The speaker for the service was
Mrs. RObert Cambell from the
Wingham Presbyterian ,Chitreh.
Her topic was on the theme for •
this year Alert in Our Time. She
stated we should stop using the •
saying "see yourself *as Others
see you", instead', "see yourself
as God sees you". He sees you
as a ,sinner who needs to be re-
deemed. He has given us the
Holy Spirit to renew our lives and
to 'make us alert to the needs of
our time, to the needs of the
people arOund us. There is so .
much that We as women can do in
our own Community and also out-
side Of it, if we would let the
Spirit move us. We would
no longer be dead stones, but be-
come living stones, in the service
of our Cord, Jesus- Christ,.
After a time of. Dedication an
offering was taken which amount-
ed to $71.30. •
The service was closed with the
singing of Go-Tell it on the .

brown and now has to have all the
removables put back in place.
