Mrs. Dick West was hostess to the Ashfield Women's Missionary Society February meeting.., Mrs. Warren Wylds opened the meeting with a poem, followed by hymn • and the W.M.S. Purpose. The scripture' was read by Mrs. Wylds, also meditation, which' was taken from "All Things Are Possible Through Prayer". Offer- tory Prayer was given by Mrs.. Jim West. Roll call with a verse 'on' love was 'answered by 12 members. One visitor and one child were' also present. . Mrs. Donald' Simpson spoke on Indian Culture namely - music ,' , e•e- — Dungannon -LICW The February meeting of Dun- • gannon'U.C. W. was held on 'Wednesday 21st at 2 o'clock in the church -basement. The meet- ing was in charge of Mrs. Clar- ence McClenaghan and Mrs. Derk Logtenberg, conveners for' Christian ande/viissionary Educa - don. As the ladies gathered, music from 'India was quietly : played. A large display of art- icles from India had been 'arranged and was viewed before the'meeting began. Mrs. Logtenberg opened the meeting with a hymn followed by the scripture read- ing from Luke by. Mrs. Leonard Reed'. Mrs. McClenagharr gave the meditation and prayer was offered by Mrs. Logtenberg. These two ladies presented a skit when many enlightening factors about India were presented. Mrs. Lorne Hasty , president, presided for the business. Roll call•was,answered by 18 ladies naming-a product of India.. Thanklou Mates were read and the treasurer's report given by Mrs. K. Ic. Dawson gave a re... port from the floor committee stating it would take 200 sq. yds. of material to cover the ,base- , ment.floor. Estimates had been received' from Finlay Decorators Lucknow, but no action was tak- en at this time. A Fashion Show will be held in AuburnnCommunity Hall. Huron-Perth Presbyterial Chris- tian Development Day will be held February' 28 starting at 9.15 a.m. in Seaforth United Church. Anyone wishing to 'go contact Mrs. McClenaghan. Irvin was enjoyed• and a social half-hour followed. • / Thinking .Day Service At Lucknow Church On Sunday, February'25th, the Lucknow Scouts, Cubs, Guides and BrOwnies assembled at the Lucknow Presbyterian Church for the 'annual Thinking Day Service. All assembled in the basement of the church and then grouped in' twos and marched up 1,oth sides of the church for the service. Rev. Glenn Noble welcomed the Scouts', Cubs, Guides'and Brown-• ies, and fermed his sermon around the motto - Be Prepared. Flag bearers for the Guides were Janet Humphrey and Susan Thompson; for the Scouts Rick . Whitby , and Gary, McInnes; for. the Cubs Kevin Bolt/and Alex Purves. St. Peters A.C.W. The A.C. W. of St. Peter's Church, Lucknow met in the Par- ish Hall on Tuesday, February 20 . at 8:15'p.m. In the absence of the President, Mrs. Clare Johnstone presided. • Miss Ruth Thompson gave the opening prayer and Mrs. Garratt read, the scripture, Psalm. 56. The roll call was answered by "How I could help my neighbour -. not materially". A busy time seems to be ahead. 'Plans were made to make Turkey Pies.. The, clergy of the Deanery will 'meet here March 5 and the ladies have been asked to serve noon lunch. Plans were also made for the Pancake Supper. The ladies were reminded of the Worlds Day' Of Prayer, this years service in the Christian Reform Church. Mrs. Tom Pritchard introduced the guest speaker, 'Mr. Marvin Streich - Department Of Social and Family Services Wingharn: Mr. Streich gave' a very inter- esting talk on his work, the problems and rewards and ended with a few laughsfrom letters received' at the Toronto office. He also had several pamphlets which the ladies were free to pick'up. Mrs. Johnstone gave the closing thoughtand.Mrs. Warren the closing prayer. Presbyterian 'Auxiliary • The February meeting Of the Lucknow Presbyterian Church Auxiliary was held .in the Fellow- ship, room 'of the Church with 20 ladies present.' Miss Miss Maudie Fisher, President ,in charge, opened 'the meeting with a poem entitled "Get a Transfer". Mrs. Ron Forster pres- ented the scripture and medita- tion. • • The 'topic on India , in charge of Mrs. Jack MacDonald , was presented in the form of slides and commentary on how India has iMproved greatly in the last three years. The,people have been taught to work the land, and in some places they are growing different kinds of vegetables for food. One-third of India's dis-- easels caused from impure water. Mrs. Robert MacKenzie read two readings entitled "I Dream of Spring" and "Our Little Feath- ered Friends". She also conduct- ed a contest. ' Mrs. Don Robertson introduced the Study Book on India telling of. its land' and. people.. Mrs. Jack Barr gave the courtesy re- marks.
