HOCKEY,
On Friday, 'February 9, the
Brookside girls played the Bel-
grave girls in Lucknow. The fin-
al score was 6-0 for the Brookside
girls. • Before this they played in
Belgrave and Belgrave won 2-1.
On Friday, February . 2, the 'two
Brookside girls teams played with
the Cooties beating the Crickets
6-0..
On On Wednesday, February 14,
Rod Simpson's Tigers beat Allan
Murray's Warriors 4-1.
VALENTINE PARTIES
On Wednesday, February 14 the
two grade eight, rooms ,
held a party. onna and Valerie
Errington presented a short skit
after which mt. Black led a sing-
song. The rest of the i)arty was
dancing.
The grade sevens held a record,

weather conditions hampered
their work. Friends are relieved
to know Mr. and Mrs. Bakker
and their three-week old baby
girl' were unharmed, and consid-
erable furniture and gifts were
rescued.
To locate a fire in a commun-
ity the telephone system now is
not as adequate as the old 'phone,
when one long ring notified as
many as 15 families 'in' a , short
time. •
NEW APPOINTMENTS -
New appointments at 'the an-
nual meeting of the United
Church included Wayne Snyder
as assistant superintendent of the
Sunday School; Mrs. Donald
McKenzie and George Errington
to the Trustees; and Gerrie Glenn
to the Board of Stewards.
Communicants classes are
being ,instructed each Sunday
evening by•Rev. Clarence Mc-
Clenaghan in Dungannon United
Church. Twenty-two young
pecipie• are taking these classes
for eight weeks.'
World Day of Prayer service
is to be held in St. Augustine
chnrch on Friday, March 2, 1973,
with Pastor Fry from Auburn as

gannon Presbyterian, United and
Anglican churches wilt join in
this special annual prayer .

The Open Area has been plan ,
ring a very exciting skating party
for February 15th. They are very
energetic and have taken the •
country of Canada to work, on. We

SPEECHES •
It has been a very busy month
for many students because of Pub-
lic Speaking. Pupils were chosen
from each cla,ss to present their
speeches to the students and three
judges. One person was chosen
to represent Lticknow in Paisley -
this person being Mary Eadie.
There was still more speaking to
be done for students-who wished
to enter in the Legion speaking.
These speeches were held in Luck-
now Central Public School with
'the results, being Martha Graham -
first, speaking on Jeanne Dixon; .
Mary Eadie was second, on Mus-
it, and Ken de Boer, third, on My
'Hobby - "Stamps'. The first and
second speeches were given in the
Lucknow Legion Hall, Friday,
FebrtiarY 17th.
